AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PAIM BEACH CODE BY ADDING THERETO CHAPTER
30, AUTHORIZING THE STORING OF CERTAIN RECREATIONAL BOATING AND CAMP-
ING EQUIPMENT IN SINGLE FAMILY AND DUPLEX RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS, AND
' SETTING FORTH CONDITIONS THEREFOR; PROVIDING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF
THIS ORDINANCE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PAIM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village of North Palm Beach Code is hereby
amended by adding thereto Section 30-1, which said section shall read
as follows:
~UUIPMENT. Recreational, boating and camping equipment
in the form of travel and camping trailers, boats on
trailers and truck trailers designed and used as temporary
living quarters for recreation, boating, camping or travel
use may be parked in the open on sites containing a single
family or duplex residence, subject to the following
conditions:
(1) Such parking shall be limited to such equipment
owned or leased by the occupant-owner or occupant-
lessee of the site concerned; provided, however, that a
guest of an occupant-owner or occupant-lessee may park
such equipment in the front yard for not more than three
days in any fourteen-day period.
(2) The location for such parked equipment shall be
in the rear yard or in the side yard to the rear of a line
established by the front building line adjacent to the
side yard where the equipment is located; provided, however,
that on corner lots such equipment shall not be parked on
the side yard which faces a public street.
(3) Such equipment and the area of parking shall be
maintained in a clean, neat and presentable manner and
the equipment shall be in a usable condition at all times.
(4) Such equipment shall, at all times, have attached
a current vehicle registration license plate and, if
required, a current inspection sticker.
(5) No major repairs or overhaul work on such
equipment which constitute either a public or private
nuisance shall be made or performed on the site.
(6) When parked on the site, such equipment shall
not be used for living or sleeping quarters, or for
housekeeping or storage purposes and shall not have
attached thereto any service connection lines, except as
may periodically be required to maintain the equipment
and appliances.
(7) Such equipment shall not exceed the maximum
length, width, height and weight permitted under appli-
cable provisions of the Motor Vehicle Laws of the
State of Florida; provided, however, the maximum length
shall not exceed 30 feet from the trailer hitch to the
rear bumper and the maximum height shall not exceed
ten feet.
(8) Such equipment shall be so secured so that it
' will not be a hazard or menance during high winds or
hurricanes. At least four hurricane anchors must be
available at each site where recreational and camping
equipment is stored pursuant to this Code section.
(9) All such recreational vehicles when parked in
the side yard. shall be screened from the view of the
nearest adjacent neighbor with an opaque, vertical
wall, fence or hedge to the height and length of
the recreational equipment.
(10) The Village Council finds that as a matter
of fact recreational camping and boating equipment is
a customary accessory use of land in R-1 and R-2 zones
in the Village of North Palm Beach."
Section 2. The violation of this Ordinance shall be punish-
ed by a fine not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment for a term not
exceeding sixty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.

Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect on July 1,
