Eissey, Vice Mayor Mayor Noel called the Public Hearing to order at 7:25 p.m. All members of Council were present, except Dr. Eissey, who had a meeting conflict. All members of staff were present. PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING The purpose of the Public Hearing was to hear comments from the public concerning Bill 1165, a proposed ordinance amending Subsection F of Section 45-36, General Provisions, of Article III, District Regulations, of Appendix C-Zoning of the Code of Ordinances deleting the prohibition against home occupations within dwellings lying within zoning districts R-1, Single-Family Dwelling District, R-2, Multiple-Family Dwelling District, and R-3, Apartment Dwelling District. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC Tom Magill, 119 Atlantic Road, requested clarification regarding the definition of home occupations and whether inventory business activities would be allowed in residential dwellings. Additionally, Mr. Magill asked if someone could give piano lessons in their home. Mr. Baldwin read the definition of home occupations from Section 17-2 of the Code of Ordinances: "any activity for which an occupational license of the Village of North Palm Beach is required by law which is conducted within the dwelling unit in a residential district." Building Official Bill Denison clarified that the Village is not rescinding any ordinance, and advised that, among other issues, the code concerning home occupations prohibits inventory in the home or customers coming to the home. Mr. Denison stated that it is really about home offices. ADJOURNMENT With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. _~ `•~GG~ Melissa Teal, CMC Village Clerk MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA FEBRUARY 10, 2005
