RESOLUTION 2010-21
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF
LIBRARY AUTOMATION SOFTWARE FROM SIRSI/DYNIX; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village received a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant in the
amount of $31,500 to enable the Village to replace the Village Library's automation system; and
WHEREAS, in order to provide its residents the highest degree of services, the Village joined
the Cooperative for Library Automation (COALA), consisting of four other Palm Beach County
municipal libraries, thereby enabling the Village to implement astate-of--the-art automation
system without a large capital outlay; and
WHEREAS, COALA utilizes and maintains automation software from Sirsi/Dynix and the
Village's purchase of the software will enable the Village Library to become an "add-on" site; and
WHEREAS, in light of the receipt of grant funds and the cost savings realized by joining
COALA, the Village Council determines that it is in the best interests of the Village and its
residents to waive its customary purchasing rules and regulations and approve the software purchase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing `whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby approves the purchase of library automation software
from Sirsi/Dynix at a total cost not to exceed $27,800.00, with funds expended from Village
Account No. A7927-33491 (Library Contractual Services). The Village Council further
authorizes Village Administration to take all actions necessary to implement the software purchase.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
