2006-081 Annual Garbage Truck PurchaseRESOLUTION 2006-81 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE M2 FREIGHTLINER TRUCK WITH A NEW WAY, KING COBRA, 25 CUBIC YARD REAR LOADING GARBAGE CONTAINER PURSUANT TO THE FLORIDA SHERIFF'S ASSOCIATION, FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES AND FLORIDA FIRE CHIEFS' ASSOCIATION BID SPECIFICATIONS; DECLARING EXISTING GARBAGE TRUCK #64 AS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING ITS DISPOSAL; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Village wishes to proceed with its annual purchase and replacement of one garbage truck; and WHEREAS, Village Staff recommends the purchase of an M2 Freightliner truck with a New Way, King Cobra, 25 cubic yard rear loading garbage container pursuant to Florida Sheriff's Association, Florida Association of Counties and Florida Fire Chiefs' Association Bid Specifications #44, fitted to Village specifications; and WHEREAS, the amount expended for the new garbage truck shall not exceed $123,530, to be expended from Village account #A7020-66410 ("Sanitation - Capital - Automotive"); and WHEREAS, Village Council wishes to declare its existing 1999 garbage truck #64 as surplus property and authorize its disposal; and WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the adoption of this Resolution is in the best interests of the Village. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows: Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and incorporated herein. Section2. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, hereby approves the purchase of one Freightliner M2 with a New Way, King Cobra, 25 cubic yard rear loading garbage truck, fitted with specified Village requirements, such as the addition of a tandem-axel rear loader, vertical exhaust, and hydraulic residential can lifting mechanism, for a total cost not to exceed $123,530.00. Section 3. The purchase of the new garbage truck shall be made from Freightliner of Tampa under the Florida Sheriffs Association, Florida Association of Counties and Florida Fire Chiefs' Association base bid specifications and shall be paid for utilizing available approved budget funds. Section 4. Upon delivery, acceptance and placement into service of the new garbage truck, the Village declares its 2000 garbage truck #64 as surplus and authorizes its sale at the earliest possible date.
