A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A RENEWAL PROPOSAL
FROM UNUMPROVIDENT TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SHORT-TERM
DISABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR CERTAIN PUBLIC SAFETY
EMPLOYEES FROM OCTOBER I, 2006 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2007;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village currently provides short-term disability insurance through
UnumProvident Corporation to public safety employees covered by the collective bargaining
agreements between the Village and the Police Benevolent Association and the Professional
Firefighters/Paramedics of Palm Beach County, Local IAFF; and
WHEREAS, UnumProvident has agreed to continue to provide such coverage to the Village at
no additional cost and the Village wishes to accept such renewal proposal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, hereby accepts
the renewal proposal of UnumProvident to provide the Village with short-term disability
insurance coverage for Village employees covered by the Police Benevolent Association and
Professional Firefighters/Paramedics of Palm Beach County, Local IAFF, collective bargaining
agreements, which proposal is attached to this resolution as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein
by reference. The renewal proposal includes no rate increase for the plan and shall be in effect
for the 12-month period beginning October 1, 2006 and ending September 30, 2007.
Section 2. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extent of such conflict.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect on October 1, 2006.
