2001-065 Supports Small Municipal Fire/PoliceRESOLUTION 65-2001 A ItI?SOI,l77'ION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUPPORTING SMALL MUNICIPAL FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMF,NTS IN PALM BEACH COUNTY IN THEIR EFFORTS TO MAINTAIN THEIR MUNICIPAL IDENTITY AND SERVICES; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office are currently contacting many of the small municipalities in Palm Beach County requesting their consideration to discontinue their individual municipal fire and police departmental services and begin using the services of the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriff s Office and, W}71:RI:AS, the small municipalities in Palm Beach County currently serving their residents through their individual municipal fire and police departments are resisting the attempts to replace services by the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office and, WI IfiREAS, the small municipal fire and police departments in Palm Beach County currently in operation serve in the best interest of their residents and are dedicated to their municipalities, taking great pride in giving their residents individual and undivided attention in an immediate response time, and WI IEKEAS, the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Oflce, which are located on various sites throughout the County, are responsible for the entire County population and conceivable would not respond to the residents in the small municipalities as rapidly as the individual fire and police departments already located and operating within the limits of their municipalities. BE ]T RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, does hereby support municipal fire and police departments in Palm Beach County in their efforts to maintain their municipal identity and services. • Section 2. The Village Clerk shall furnish a certified copy of this Resolution to the Town of Lake Clarke Shores and such other municipalities and governmental bodies as the Mayor may direct. Section 3.
