A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING .THE PURCHASE OF
GOODS AND SERVICES FROM INTERNATIONAL GOLF MAINTENANCE,
INC. FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SOD, LANDSCAPE MATERIALS AND
IRRIGATION IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE NEW TENNIS CENTER; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village contracts with International Golf Maintenance, Inc. ("IGM") for the
maintenance of the landscaping and grounds for the Village Golf Course and Country Club; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the existing Contract, the Village routinely purchases landscape
material and sod from IGM in the course of IGM's maintenance duties and responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, the Village has received FRDAP Grant funding for landscaping and related
improvements at the new Tennis Center located at the Country Club and wishes to authorize
IGM to purchase and install additional sod and landscape materials and to modify the existing
irrigation lines to provide complete coverage; and
WHEREAS, IGM has provided the Village with a proposal for the purchase of such goods and
services and Village Administration has verified the fair market value of these goods and
services; and
WHEREAS, in light of the Village's existing contractual relationship with IGM, IGM's past
performance, the availability of grant funds, and existing time constraints, the Village Council
determines that foregoing the bidding process and accepting the proposal submitted by IGM is in
the best interests of the residents and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified as true and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby accepts the proposal submitted by International Golf
Maintenance, Inc. in the amount of $34,530.00 for the installation of sod and landscaping at the
Village Tennis Center and the modification of existing irrigation lines to provide complete
coverage. Said improvements shall be installed and constructed in accordance with: (1) the
Plant List dated August 3, 2009 prepared by Buzz Jaskela, Landscape Architects; (2) the
Landscape Plans for Trees and Shrubs dated July 29, 2009 and Front Elevation prepared by Buzz
Jaskela, Landcape Architects; and (3) the Landscape Specifications, copies ofwhich are attached
hereto as Composite Exhibit "A."
• Section 3. The funds for this purchase shall be expended from Account No. U8050 - 66210
(Tennis Grant -Construction and Major Renovation).

LANDSCAPE SPECIFICATIONS
GENERAL
The Contractor shall furnish labor, equipment, and materials necessary to complete the planting,
maintaining, and guaranteeing of lawns and plants in accordance with the Drawing(s) and as
specified herein. The work includes soil preparation, watering, staking, guying and mulching.
NOMENCLATURE: All plant material shall conform to Grades & Standmds for Nzrrsery Plats,
published by Florida's Department of Agriculture. Quality shall be Flor•idu Grade #I or better.
PLANT LIST: A complete list of plants, including a schedule of quantities, sizes, spacing,
description and other requirements is shown on the Drawing(s). lrt the event of a discrepancy the
Drawing(s) shall prevail.
SETTING PLANTS: All plants shall either be planted at the same depth at which it previously
grew at the nursery or 1" above finish grade.
TREES: The planting hole should be twice as wide as the root ball. Set it on compacted sub
grade to avoid settling. The amending of backfitl is rrot reconrnten~led unless it is planted in marl.
[n which case the Landscape Architect (L.A.) may specify an amendment (not to exceed 25% of
the existing soil) or another method of planting.
PALMS: The planting hole should be wide enough to easily accept the root ball and provide at
{east 3" of new growth. Set on a compacted sub grade. The amending of backfitl is Trot
recon:nrerrderl unless it is planted in marl. In which case the L.A. may specify an amendment (not
to exceed 25% of the existing soil) or another method of planting.
SHRUBS: All slrrtrbs shall be planted in holes at least one foot greater in diameter than the root
ball or container. The depth of the hole shall be at least 6" greater than the root ball. Amend areas
of mass plantings (3 or more plants) with topsoil not to exceed 25% of the existing soil. The
amending of backfitl is not recorrrnrerrderl for an individual plant (a single shrub or a single vine).
GUYING & STAKING: All trees over (7') in height shall immediately after setting to proper
grade be guyed or staked.
FERTILIZER:Nutricote fertilizer shall be granular, uniform in composition, dry and free
flowing. This fertilizer shall be delivered to the site in original unopened bags each bearing the
Manufacture's statement of analysis and shall meet the following requirements: 18% nitrogen,
6% Phosphorus, $% Potassium, plus Iron. Fertilizer shall be "nutricote 18-6-8 type 360" a 360
day slow release fertilizer. A second fertilizer (Agriform or equal) in 21 gram size shall have the
following requirements: 20% nitrogen, 10% Phosphorus and 5% Potassium.
MULCHING: All shrubs and ground cover beds shown on the Drawing(s) shall be mulched
with 3 inches of shredded mulch. Tl~e mulch bed shall extend t S inches fram the outer edge of
the shrub, vine of ground cover. Avoid placing mulch directly against the trunks of palms and
fruit trees.
WATERING: Thoroughly water each plant unmediately following planting. Material shall be
deep watered at least every other day for tfie first 30 days. The watering shalt continue every 3 to
4 days (or 2 times per week) for the next 30 days. If the conditions are very dry, your will be
required to water more often as requested by the owner or landscape architect at no additional
cost.
• MAINTENANCE: The Landscape Contractor will assume the responsibility of maintenance
including watering, fertilizing, spraying, weeding, cultivating, repairing and tightening guy wires,
etc., upon completion of planting up and until acceptance by the L.A./Oamer.
WARRANTY: All plant materials shat{ be warranted for one (i) year after installation. The
warranty applies to the health, position and size of the plants.
