A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL
OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, PETITIONING FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO
MODIFY AND WAIVE ITS EXISTING
CRITERIA WHEN WIDENING STATE ROAD
703 BY PLACING A BICYCLE-PEDESTRIAN
PATHWAY MADE OF CONCRETE MATERIAL ON
THE EAST SIDE OF STATE ROAD 703
ADJACENT TO AND EXTENDING. THE
DISTANCE OF JOHN D. MAC ARTHUR STATE
PARK; ANA PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Florida Department of Transportation is widening
and improving State Road 703 in the vicinity of John D. MacArthur
State Park; and
WHEREAS, existing standards and criteria of Florida
Department of Transportation provide for a four (4) foot bicycle
lane and would not allow placement of a bir.ycle-pedestrian pathway;
and
WHEREAS, the Village Council has determined that a
bicycle-pedestrian pathway adjacent. to John D. MacArt.h~ir State Part,
would provide for the safety and enjoyment of bicyclists and
pedestrians engaging in recreation and visiting the park.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of. North
Palm Beach does hereby petition Florida Department of

Transportation to modify and waive its existing criteria and
standards when widening State Road 703 i.n front of John D.
MacArthur State Park by placing a bicycle-pedestrian pathway made
of concrete material on the east side of State Road 703 adjacent to
and extending the distance of John D. MacArthur State Park.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
