Public invited to visit
the `new' North Palm
Beach Country Club
Completely refurbished, with new management,
chef, and staff
If you ever had occasion to visit the
clubhouse at the North Palm Beach Country
Club in recent years you have a pleasant
surprise awaiting you on your next visit.
And, if you're visiting the club for the first
time you'll be equally pleased with the fine
food and drink, superior service and
comfortable surroundings now available there.
Completely refurbished, with new lighting
fixtures, tropical plants, draperies, brightly
polished furnishings and woodwork, a new
pink, gold and turquoise color scheme and,
perhaps most importantly, a new management,
executive chef and staff, the new clubhouse is
fast becoming the place to see and be seen in
north Palm Beach County.
Managed for many years by a
concessionaire, operation of the clubhouse
was taken over by the Village of North Palm
Beach Council early this year. A new, seasoned
and professional general manager was
immediately put in place, and work was begun
on totally renovating the clubhouse's interior.
With all that behind it, the clubhouse now
sports a large, bright and warmly furbished
dining room overlooking the club's golf course
that seats 150, called "Windows on the Green."
Adjacent to that is the club's bar and lounge,
which features a large U-shaped bar and table
seating for 50. It also overlooks the golf course,
and is called "Chippers Mixed Grill".
Open to both members .and the public, the
newly refurbished lounge is open seven days a
week for lunch beginning at it a.m. and for
breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 to
11 am. Buffet -style dinners are served in the
main dining room on Tuesdays and Thursdays
beginning at 6:30 pm. More formal dining is
available on all traditional holidays, except
Christmas, when the club is closed.
"Windows on the Green" is currently used
on other nights for private banquets, wedding
receptions and other affairs, but plans are to
begin serving dinner on additional evenings in
the near future.
In charge of food operations is Executive
Chef Gregory O'Kane, a graduate of the
Culinary Institute of America, who began
learning his trade in Europe as an apprentice to
his father, a famous Irish chef. Although his
early training was abroad, Chef O'Kane's
specialties are now good, old fashioned
American dishes. Dinner entrees include such
traditional favorites as roast leg of lamb, Prime
Ribs of Beef, and famous Chicken Pot Pie,
baked filet of sole with crabmeat stuffing, roast
loin of pork, roast duck, broiled grouper, and
vegetable lasagna, for those watching their
waistlines.
The club's lunch menu includes a large
variety of soups, salads, sandwiches and hot
dishes ranging from broiled fish of the day to
giant hamburgers. .
Dinner has a fixed price at $12.50 per
person, and includes entree, soup du jour,
vegetable and potato, fruit, dessert and
beverage. It also includes tax and .gratuity.
Complimentary hot and cold hors d'oeuvres are
also served in the lounge during cocktail hour
on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Lunch prices range from $3.50 for a large
hamburger with all the trimmings to $5.75 for
NORTH PALM BEACH COUNTRY CLUB bartender Linda Ayres talks with a
customer at the large U-shaped bar in the club's "Chippers Mixed Grill' lounge. The bar
can seat up to 20 customers, while tables bordering the lounge's windows overlooking the
club's golf course can accommodate more than 50 people. Lunch is served daily in the
lounge beginning at 11 a.m. Breakfast is also served there on Saturdays and Sundays
from 7 to 11 a.m. And, complimentary hors d'oeuvres are available during cocktail hour on
Tuesdays and Thursdays
broiled snapper.
Overseeing all the club's operations is
General Manager Alan G. Sayer, who brings to
the post more than 25 years experience in
resort and club operations, including stints as
general manager of such prestigious clubs as
Boca West and Boca Grove in Boca Raton and,
most recently, the Crestmont Country Club in
West Orange, N.J.
In addition to overseeing restoration of the
clubs clubhouse and food and drink operations,
Sayer has also played a major role in
renovation of its Olympic -size swimming pool,
tennis courts and 18-hole golf course, all of
which are also open to the public.

oriented staff are looking forward to
accomodating the needs of you and your
