Village names interim manager
Appointment is third time in
3 years for the community
development director.

For the third time in three years, .
Community Development Director
Chuck Huff has been named inter-
im village manager.
I've worked with all the depart-
ment heads. I expect a smooth tran-
sition," said Huff, 48, an Army vet-
eran who started at the village in
2006.
Huff was appointed following the
April 14 retirement of Village Man-
ager Ed Green, who was on the job
for about two years: Green, former-
ly the manager of Garfield County,
Colo., for 14 years, said he and his
Wife, Linda, miss their home state
and are moving back.
I like to hike_ up and down hills
WEST PALM BEACH
and snowshoe.
Can't do that here,"
said Green, 65.
Village officials
are conducting a job
OF search, and plan to
fill the position by
Huff July. Huff is a can-
didate for the posi,-
tion, Mayor Darryl
Aubrey said. The village has 13,000
permanent residents with an annu-
al budget of about $21 million and
about 170 employees.
We're seeing what's out there,":
Aubrey said.
Huff is receiving a 10 percent in-
crease above his annual salary of
about $94,000 while serving as in-
terim manager. Green's annual sala-
ry was $130,000.
A resident of Palm Beach Gar-
dens, Huff and his wife, Shelly, have
two boys and a girl, between 10 and
14. Huff was a medic in the Army
and served from 1983 to 1989 sta-
tioned in Kansas and Germany.
Huff's first stint as interim man-
ager was in 2012 following the firing
of Village Manager Jamie Titcomb.
Jimmy Knight was hired to replace
Titcomb. When Knight resigned lat-
er in 2012, Huff again was appoint-'
ed to the position until Green was
hired.
Improving infrastructure
throughout the village should be a
priority for the person named as
the next village manager, Green
said. Plumbing, electric and
air- conditioning systems all need
to be updated at the library, public
works building and the North Palm
Beach Country Club. The village da-
ta system also needs to be brought
up to date, he said.
Whoever gets that,job is going
to have a lot on their plate," Green
said.
