HULLIHAN, Estelle “Jeanne”
Estelle “Jeanne” Hullihan, 90years old, ofNorth Palm Beach, FL, died at herhome onApril 17, 2016,
surrounded bythose wholoved andcared forher. Born inWest Palm Beach on January 13, 1926, she was the
daughter ofJohn Herbert and Estelle B. Follette. Jeanne attended St. Ann Catholic School through the 4th Grade
before moving toMiami. There she was raised byhermother and step-father, Frederick P. Oldfather, and
attended Shenandoah Middle School, and Miami Senior High School (Class of1944). Jeanne continued her
education atFlorida State College for Women, inTallahassee, where shewas amember ofKappa Alpha Theta,
and aproud member ofthefirstgraduating class ofFlorida State University in1948. After graduation, Jeanne
lived inNew York City for two-years and worked as theexecutive assistant totheChairman ofU.S. Operations
for Radio Free Europe. She returned toWest Palm Beach tobethe executive assistant tothe City Manager. In
1954, amutual friend introduced her tothe love ofherlife, Bill Hullihan. They married inHendersonville, North
Carolina, inAugust of1955, and moved toGainesville, Florida, where they both earned post-baccalaureate
degrees from the University ofFlorida. In1960, they settled permanently inWest Palm Beach. Jeanne was a
full-time mother andhomemaker until 1974, when she joined the faculty ofCardinal Newman High School asa
religion teacher. Her late-in-life career spanned over 30-years; she retired from Cardinal Newman after the
2004 / 2005 school year. Mrs. Hullihan was preceded indeath by her husband of58-years, William Hullihan,
whodied in2013, andheryoungest son, Kevin, who died in2000. She issurvived by three children, Lynn H.
Hartley (David) ofPalm Coast, Florida, Patrick Hullihan ofOklahoma City, OK, andTimothy Hullihan (Carrie) of
North Palm Beach; and seven grandchildren, IanandEmily Hartley, Michael (Emily) andKristin Hullihan, and
Ryan, Ethan, andMatthew Hullihan. Jeanne isalso survived bymany close friends intheWest Palm Beach area
and anamazing team ofcaregivers who made her final time onearth meaningful, dignified and comfortable. A
Funeral Mass will becelebrated onApril 29, 2016 at3:30PM atSt. Ann Catholic Church, 310North Olive Ave.,
West Palm Beach, FL 33401, with Rev. William O’Shea and Rev. Alfredo Hernandez concelebrating. The family
willreceive friends inhonor ofJeanne’slife immediately following the mass at4:30PM atthebanquet facility on
the St. Ann Campus. Agraveside committal atOur Lady Queen ofPeace Catholic Cemetery willbeheld
