hole to ex -U.S. Pep. Tom Lewis.

NORTH PALM BEACH The 11th hole of the
village golf course suits Tom Lewis to a tee.
The 168 -yard par -3 hole is an uphill challenge that
penalizes golfers who hit left. That's about par for the
retired Republican representative whose 12 years in
Congress were dominated by Democrats.
Today, the village council will dedicate the hole to
Lewis, whose 30 years in public service included six
years as mayor of the village. The council, Lewis and
other dignitaries will roll in golf carts from the pro
shop to the hole at 5:30 p.m. The council also will
dedicate its chambers to Lewis at 7:30 p.m.
Lewis, who had a heart attack in February after
retiring in December, enjoys playing the hole be-
cause of its beauty and difficulty, said Village Manag-
er Dennis Kelly. There's a lake between the tee and
hole, the sixth hardest on the country club course.
The best way to play it is to hit the ball straight over
the water, but the safest way is to hit it right.
"He's played golf all his life," Kelly said. "It's just
Le, .a he gets. a char; a to play a lot more now.
