The Braves, The Pirates (WeekDay) May 1982i ne t5raves
The Braves are in the Button
League of the North Palm Beach
Youth Athletic Association. The
players are aged 6-8. The sponsor of
the Braves is the Sweden House.
The current record of the Braves is
1-10. However, manager Clint Reas
said, "That record does not really
indicate anything. The purpose of this
league is to teach the players the
fundamentals."
Coaches pitch to the players in the
Button League to help stress the
fundamentals.
Reas has three other. coaches that
help with the Braves. Rick Gorfido,
Charlie Chase, and Ralph Crawford
all combined their efforts to teach the
team basics of baseball. Sue Reas, the
manager's wife, acts as the team
mother and Cindy Gorfido is the
Braves' scorekeeper.
This is Reas' second year of
coaching. Lastyear he was an
i
assistant coach n the Button League
of the NPBYAA, so this year he
decided to take on the head coaching
responsibility.
Reas had quite a few comments on
the purpose of the Button League. He.
stated, "We strive to give the players
a competitive attitude, but the main
thing is for them to learn the game.
The league has a wide caliber of
ability. We try to support team play
and sportsmanship, regardless of the
skill of -each individual._".

The
Pirates-
The Pirates are in the Button
League of the North Palm Beach
Youth Athletic Association. The
Pirates are a team of 6, 7, and 8 year
old players. The Button League is the
first baseball league in the
N. P. B.Y.A. A., so the coaches pitch to
the youngsters. This allows the game
to be filled with more hitting.
Dennis Isenhower is the manager of
"the Pirates. They have a current
record of four wins and four losses.
The Pirates sponsor is Jan's Hair
Styling.
Isenhower has two other coaches
that help with the team, Garrett
Gralinger and Bob Adams. Adams'
"wife, Sue, is the Pirates' team
mother. Sharon Isenhower acts as the
team's scorekeeper.
Coach Isenhower has been
coaching for five years. He has been
the manager of the teams for two of
those years.
Sue Adams commented on both the.
Button League and the Pirates. She
said, "There is a lot of involvement in
the Button League. It's fun for the
parents as well as the kids. It is really
rewarding to see them develop both
an interest in baseball and skill in the
sport."
