Kick-off to Heritage Day Festivities
Celebrating 50 Years!
Preceding the opening of the Time Capsule Ceremony, the North Palm Beach Public
Library will have a program and reception at which light refreshments will be served.
The program will take place in the Obert Meeting Room on Friday, April 7, 2006, at
2:30 P.M.
The actual event of the opening of the time capsule will take place at 4 P.M. The time
capsule is located directly outside of the front doors on the porch of the library. North
Palm Beach residents, dignitaries (past and present) and friends will be on hand for this
special occasion. This event will “kick-off” the Heritage Day Festivities that will follow
on April 8th.
Although everyone will be welcomed to attend the “Kick-Off Program,” at 2:30 P.M.,
seating will be limited in the meeting room.
Those who attend the program will be transported back in time to the 1950’s. When
North Palm Beach was in its infancy. Displays of memorabilia, clothing, newspaper and
magazine articles along with photographs and music are certain to tickle your sense of
nostalgia and give you insight into the beginnings of your home town.
Throughout the afternoon, in the Children’s Library, popular children’s literature of the
1950’s will be read. There will also be a display from that time period for children
to enjoy. Crafts, hand-outs, stamps and stickers will be given to the children. The
children that attend will be encouraged to create a special collage on one of our bulletin
boards. Great fun is in store for everyone.
Please mark you calendars for this fun-filled afternoon and be sure to include the
exciting ceremony of the Opening of the Time Capsule!
