AAUW EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
The founders of the American Association of University Women
believed that education is the key to achieving equity for women of
all ages, races, creeds, and nationalities. Over the years AAUW
has responded to the changing needs of women, but this vision
remains the driving force for today's AAUW members, who raise
more than $2 million a year to support the AAUW Educational
Foundation.
The AAUW Educational Foundation has helped more than
6,000 women reach their personal and professional goals through a
variety of fellowships and grants, including: American
Fellowships; Selected Professions Fellowships; International
Fellowships; Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowships; Career
Development Grants; and Community Action Grants.
The significance of the Foundation's impact is reflected in
the diversity of its former fellows: the late Dr. Judith Resnik,
NASA astronaut, 1975-76; Susan Sontag, writer and educator,
1957-58; Dr. Jenny Bramley, physicist, 1935; Patricia Bell -Scott,
educator and editor, 1984-85; Hanna Holborn Gray, university
president,1954-5 5; Christine Lilyquist, museum curator,1969;
Marina Nunez del Prado, sculptress,1969; and Ebudane Adegbuyi,
agronomist, 1985.
Because fo the efforts of our members and friends, the
world is a better place this year.

About AAUW
The American Association of University Women,
founded in 1881, is the oldest organization of its kind in
the United States. Today there are over 160,000 members
in 1, 7 5 0 branches across the country dedicated to the
promotion of equity for all women and girls, promotion of
lifelong education, and the implementation of positive
societal and community changes.
Locally, the Northern Palm Beach County Branch
is an active organization formed thirtynine years ago.
Monthly general meetings are held on the third Monday
of each month at 7:30 P.M. with programs of current
interest.
Special interest groups meet monthly on various
topics, such as Art at Tea Time, Evening Literary Group,
Women in Literature, Dinner Club, and Get Up and Go
Group.
The local outreach project is a special relationship
with a class of four year olds at the Hispanic Human
Resaurses Council. Members visit the class, interact with
them, send them communications, books, and toys. They
are rewarded with unlimited smiles and hugs.
Interested persons may obtain Membership
information from Lucille Wendel at 622-6708.
In Principle and Practice AAUW values and seeks
a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full
participation in this organization on the basis of gender,
race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or
disability.
AAUW provides the opportunity to use education
to make a difference.
