This is the single most effective way to support the world's most
promising women.
The AAUw Educational Foundation is dedicated to advancing
education, research, the self -development of women and girls,
and the promotion of social change through fellowships, grants,
special awards, conferences, and special research programs. It
was the first and is the largest organization of its kind. Since 1888,
the Foundation has awarded over 5,000 fellowships and research
grants to deserving scholars. The Foundation actively recruits
minority women for all of its fellowship programs.
The significance of the Foundation's impact is reflected in the
diversity of its former fellows: the late Dr. Judith Resnik, NASA
astronaut, 1975-76; Susan Sontag, writer and educator, 1957-58;
Dr. Jenny Bramley, physicist, 1935; Patricia Bell -Scott, educator
and editor, 1984-85; Hanna Holborn Gray, university president,
1954-55; Christine Lilyquist, museum curator, 1969; Marina Nunez
del Prado, sculptress, 1940; Ines Durana, healthcare administra-
tor, 1969; and Ebudane Adegbuyi, agronomist, 1985-85.
Because of the efforts of our members and friends, the world is a
better place this year.
