have no opposition,
will serve new terms

Two members of the North
Palm Beach Council were the
only candidates for their
respective seats. The law
recogniz6s the endorsement that
no opposition produces. Tom
Valente and Judy Pierman will
be 1declared elected for new
terms.
Tom Valente will start his
5th term on the Council. Now
serving as Mayor for the 3rd
time, after the election the
council will vote that office to
another member because, in
North Palm Beach, a mayor
cannot repeat.
Mr. Valente is a 25 year
resident of the village,
employed by Halsey & Griffith.
He and his wife, Linda, will be
married 25 years in June. They
have 3 children.
Problems for the council will
include those related to
acquisition of Seacoast
Utilities, working out how to
maintain the level of services
with a tax base that has pretty
much levelled off, and village
complex expansion to make
more room and parking for the
public, employees, library user,."

Mrs. Pierman is completing
her first term and is council
president . pro tem. She has been
a village, resident for 13 years,
is married and has 3 children.
She is a teacher at NPB Private
School, has a degree in
education with graduate studies.
She is a past president of
AAUW.
She said it had been a very
good working council, working
as a team for the betterment of
the city.
While she lives on Greenway
Dr., and not on the water, she
said she felt her best
satisfaction came in seeing the
village acquire a waterway
patrol boat for security of
homes and condos on the water.
She was also active in
obtaining enhanced security and
safety at the Community
Center.

"Go forth and bloom," was the
message Judy Pierman, Vice President,
Programs, used to send members on
their way at the end of Saturday's
c spectacular Branch Leaders' Program.
With Pat Robinson putting the petals in
place, Judy built the plywood daisy with
the structure of the Florida Division, as
helpers ' passed out live daisies to the
audience. After a day of learning about
issues, branch duties, and how to plan
by means of brain -storming, weary but
stimulated members reveled in the light
