AAUW EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
The Educational Foundation, formed in 1958, is the world's largest
source of funding exclusively for graduate women. The Educational
Foundation's endowed funds, the American Fellowships, Career
Development Grants, International Fellowships, and Selected
Professions Fellowships, provide women with financial support for
individual research and formal academic pursuits beyond a Bachelor's
degree.
The Eleanor Roosevelt Fund provides K-12 women public school
teachers with opportunities for professional development and financial
support for projects that inspire girls' learning in math, science and
technology. Community Action Grants provide seed money to
individual women, AAUW branches, AAUW state organizations, and
local community-based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs
or non -degree research projects that promote education and equity for
women and girls.
7
To date the Educational Foundation has helped more than 7,800
women worldwide achieve their personal goals. For the 2001-2002
academic year the Foundation will award more than 3.5 million in
grants, awards and fellowships. This year 288 outstanding women
were selected to receive Foundation funding.

THE LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND
Founded in 1981, the Legal Advocacy Fund is the nation's largest
legal fund focused solely on sex discrimination in higher education.
It provides funding and a support system to college and university
women fighting sexual harassment, unjustified or unfair denial of
tenure or promotion, pay inequity, pregnancy discrimination and
inequality in athletic programs.
The Legal Advocacy Fund promotes equity for women in higher
education and fosters institutional change in the following ways:
• Provides financial support for sex discrimination lawsuits
through its Case Support Program.
• Educates university communities about sex discrimination
issues through its Campus Outreach Program.
• Offers a Network of volunteer attorneys and social
scientists who consult with women who have filed or are
considering filing sex discrimination lawsuits.
• Recognizes innovative efforts to improve the climate for
women on campus through the Progress in Equity Award.
The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund has contributed more than
$700,000 to more than 65 women seeking judicial redress for sex
discrimination in higher education. The Fund does not engage in
litigation, it supports plaintiffs by providing financial aid, offering
technical assistance, and raising funds. -
