A RESOLUTION OF THE VILiAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIIIA,
URGING THE GOVERNOR AND CABINET OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO APPROVE THE MASTER
PLAN AND PROVIDE THE FINANCING FOR THE JOHN D. AND CATHERINE T. MAC ARTHUR
COU[Ji'Y AND STATE PARK SITUATED IN THE VILiAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH.
WHEREAS, the Village of North Palm Beach has supported a public park
' in that location for approximately twenty years, and has prevented dredging
and filling and development of the area; and
FhR;REAS, in support thereof the Village has given up potential,
additional advalorem taxes of approximately one-half million dollars per year;
and
Wi-IEREAS, the Village believes that this park could be the most beauti-
ful park in Florida for the benefit of residents and tourists of the area who
otherwise would not have access to the beach; and
W1-IEREAS, the area would be kept in its nearly natural state as an
exa~le of what Florida used to be; and
[,~I-IEREAS, the State and County have now purchased this area for the
stated purpose of providing a park while preserving the pristine state for
' the area; and
WHEREAS, it is urged that the State carry through with the Master
Plan provided by the Conservation Corporation of the John D. and Catherine
T. MacArthur County and State park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVID BY THE VTiTA(~F' COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Governor and Cabinet of the State of Florida
approve the initiation and evnytual construction of the needed facilities for
this County and State park.
Section 2. That if legislative action is required, the Palm Beach
County Legislative Delegation initiate and follow through with the necessary
procedures .
' Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
passage.
