A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, PROHIBITING THE BUILDING OFFICIAL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH FROM ISSUING A BUILDING PERMIT FOR ANY PROPOSED BUILDINGS

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Building Official is hereby prohibited from
issxxing a building permit for any proposed buildings which exceed the
' number of stories set forth below within the following areas:
(a) Sixteen stories in the area lying North of the
Intracoastal Waterway and. West of U. S.•Highway No. 1.
(b) Twenty stories in the area lying North of the Intra-
coastal Waterway and East of U. S. Highway No. 1.
(c) Thirteen stories in the area lying South of the Intra-
coastal Waterway and East of U. S. Highway No. 1.
(d) Four stories in the area lying South and West of the
]ntracoastal Waterway and. West of U. S. Highway No. 1.
~ Section 2. The prohibition set forth by this Resolution shall
automatically end. sixty days from date, unless within said. sixty-day
period. the Village Council shall adopt legislation affecting heights of
' buildings in said. areas.
Section 3. This Resolution is based upon study and recommenda-
tions of the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board of the Village of North
Palm Beach at a meeting held. Wednesday, May 29, 1974, wherein the
Planning and Zoning Advisory Board unanimously concluded that these
height limitations are reasonable and necessary for control of street
and public facility congestion, unwieldy traffic, extraordinary demands
upon public utilities and public services. Population trends, traffic
and. service projections for the residents in the area of North Palm
Beach and. the effect of growth in the immediate areas surrounding the
Village of North Palm Beach, heights of existing buildings and. other
matters concerning the health, welfare and safety of the residents
and property owners in the Village of North Palm Beach also necessitate
the passage of this resolution.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon passage.
