A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEAC}f,
FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES FROM PALM BEACH
COUidTY TO T}[E 1972 FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO SECURE THE EMERGENCY ENACT-
MENT OF A GENERAL LAW PROVIDING AUTHORITY FOR MUNICIPALITIES TO CONTINUE
' TO LEVY ALL TAXES THEY WERE AUTHORIZED TO IMPOSE WHEN THE NEW CONSTITUTION
OF TI[E STATE OF FLORIDA TOOK EFFECT ON JANUARY 7, 1969.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE,VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PAIM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Senators and Representatives from Palm Beach
County to the 1972 Florida Legislature are hereby requested to secure
the emergency enactment of a General Law of the State of Florida which
would provide authority for all municipalities in the State of Florida
to continue to levy all taxes, including occupational license taxes,
which the municipalities were authorized to impose when the 1968 Florida
Constitution took effect on January 7, 1969.
Section 2. Failure to enact such a General Law would result
in a loss of substantial income to the Village of North Palm Beach
from occupational licenses and possibly from other sources and would
adversely affect other municipalities in Palm Beach County and through-
out the State of Florida and would hamper the ability of local govern-
ment to effectively serve and protect the people in the municipalities.
Section 3. The Village Clerk is directed to forward a copy
of t}ii.s Resolution to all members of the delegation referred to above.
