1972-06 Publish Notice of the General ElectionRESOLUTION N0. 6-72 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIllA, DIRECTING THE VILLAGE CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BF. }}ELD ON MARCH 21, 1972; NAMING THE TIME AND PLACE W}{ERE SUCH ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; APPOINTING THE ELECTION OFFICIALS FOR THE GF,N}:RAL ELECTION AND RUN-OFF ELECTION; DECLARING THE OFFICES TO BE FILLED AT SUCH ELECTION. W}iERF,AS, the Charter of the Village provides for a general election to be held on the third Tuesday in March of each year; and WHEREAS, there are three offices to be filled at the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1972; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORT}[ PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. That a general election shall be held, and is hereby declared to be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Cowrty, Florida, between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. ' on the 21st day of March, 1972, for the purpose of electing members to the Village Council to fill such offices in Groups 1, 3 and 5 for a period of two years each. Section 2. The Village Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to cause a notice of said election to be published in the Palm Beach }'ost-Times once at least fifteen days prior to said election. Said notice shall be substantially in the following form: NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION MARCH 21, 1972 TO AI,I, QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA: By order of the Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, notice is hereby given that a general election will be held in said Village on the 21st day of March, 1972, for the purpose of electing Councilman for the following offices,to-wit: Village Councilman, Group 1 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 3 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 5 (2-year term) Said election will be held in the Village of North Palm Beach, and the polling places are designated as Faith Lutheran Church, Pre- cinct No. 48; Council Chambers, Village Hall, Precinct No. 49; and Elk's Lodge No. 2069, Precincts No. 50 and 52, all in the Village of North Palm Beach. The polls will be open in the voting places from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. The following inspectors and clerks have been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting said election: Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No. 48: Inspectors: Esther Bricker Grete McBride Faye Lucas Virginia Tracy Clerk: F,lizabeth Redding Council Chambers, Vi11aQe Hall, Precinct No 49: Inspectors: Ralph Cohn Lillian Drudi Margaret Fick Mary Allen Clerk: Jane Jenkins Elk's Lode No. 2069, Precincts No 50 and 52: Inspectors: Ruth Brush Jean Ford Millicent Walter Martha Schultz Clerk: Louise Nash The above officials have also been designated and appointed by the Village Council for the purpose of conducting the special run- off election to be held on the fourth Tuesday in March, 1972, if such becomes necessary. T}re registration books will be open in the Village Clerk's office between the hours of 8:30 A,M. to 12:00 Noon and 1:00 P.M. to X1:30 P.M. on weekdays only up to and including the 10th da y of ' Parch, 1972; from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on February 15th and February 29, 1972; and from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 11, 1972. Village Clerk }'UBLISH: Palm Beach Post-Times - 2 - Section 3. The Village Clerk, as registration officer of the Village, is hereby directed to prepare a list of the names of all qualified electors appearing on the registration books of the Village, and she shall keep the registration books open at her office between the hours of 8:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon and from 1:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. on weekdays only up to and including the 10th day of March, 1972; from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M, on February 15 and February 29, 1972; and from 9:00 A.M, to 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 11, 1972. A certi- fied list of such qualified electors shall be furnished by the Village Clerk to the inspectors and clerks in charge of the polling places on the day of the election. Section 4. The inspectors and clerks of said general election to be held on March 21, 1972 are hereby appointed as follows: Faith Lutheran Church, Precinct No 48: Inspectors: Esther Bricker Grete McBride Faye Lucas Virginia Tracy Clerk: Elizabeth Redding C1 Council Chambers, Village Hall Precinct No 49: Inspectors: Clerk Ralph Cohn Lillian Drudi Margaret Fick Mary Allen Jane Jenkins Elk's Lodge No. 2069 Precincts No 50 and 52: Inspectors: Ruth Brush Jean Ford Millicent Walter Martha Schultz Clerk: Louise Nash i~ Said officers are hereby directed to hold said election in accordance wi.t}r the law and in such manner as to prevent all fraud, deceit and abuse therein or thereto and to make the returns of said election in the manner prescribed by law. Section 5. The offices for which said candidates shall be elected at t}re general election are: Village Councilman, Group 1 (2-year term) - 3 - Village Councilman, Group 3 (2-year term) Village Councilman, Group 5 (2-year term) Section 6. The inspectors and clerks of the general election to be held in the Village on the third Tuesday in March, 1972 are ' }~ereby designated to be the same officials to serve at the special run-off election, if such election is held. Section 7. The Village Clerk and election officials are hereby directed to arrange for the use of voting machines at said general election, and the form of the ballot shall be such as is consistent wit}i the use of voting machines. Absentee ballots shall be prepared by the Village Clerk in form consistent with existing Village ordinances. Section 8. Immediately after the closing of the polls on the said election day, the inspectors and clerk shall certify the returns thereof to the Village Council and the Village Council shall hold a meeting on the 22nd day of March, 1972 for the purpose of canvassing the returns and declaring the results of said election.
