A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, REAFFIRMING THAT THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PAIM BEACH STRONGLY
SUPPORTS T}{F. OCEANFRONT LAND IN NORTH PALM BEACH BECOMING A PUBLIC
PARK AND CONIIVIENDING MR. JOHN D. MAC ARTHUR FOR HIS OFFER TO LEASE
T}IE LAND.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORT}i PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council hereby reaffirms its desire
t}~at oceanfront lands lying within the municipal limits of the
Village of North Palm Beach be acquired for public beach purposes
by }'alm Beach County, the State of Florida or other public bodies
concerned.
Section 2. The Village Council of North Palm Beach believes
that any loss in tax revenue by virtue of transferring private land
to public ownership would be more than offset by the advantages to
the public of having ocean beaches for use by the public located
wit}rin t}re corporate limits of the Village of North Palm Beach.
Section 3. The Village Council of North Palm Beach believes
the purchase of the oceanfront land by the County or State would be
more irr the public interest, but if this is not possible, a lease
arrangement should be pursued. Such lease should be for the longest
term possible so that the greatest benefit can be derived.
Section 4. The Village Council of North Palm Beach hereby
publicly conunends Mr. John D. MacArthur for his offer to lease the
oceanfront land in North Palm Beach to Palm Beach County.
Section 5. The Village Council requests the Palm Beach
County Commission to actively work to acquire this oceanfront by pur-
' chase or lease and to allow a representative from North Palm Beach
to be a party to d eta il discussions concerning these arrangements.
Section 6. The Village Clerk is directed to send a copy
oi' this Resolution to Mr. John D. MacArthur and the Palm Beach County
Conunission.
