A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEAC}{,
FLORIDA, PETITIONING THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, OPPOSING
THI; LOCATION OF A NEW STATE PRISON WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THF. NORTH-
F,AS'[' SF.C7'ION OF PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA.
W}{EREAS, the Village of North Palm Beach is primarily a
residential community, and
W}[EREAS, the location of a maximum security prison in t}re
Northeast Section of Palm Beach County, Florida would expose the
residents of the Village of North Palm Beach to the possibility of
escaped criminals hiding in or passing through the Village of North
Palm Beach, and
W}iEREAS, such a possibility is contrary to the best in-
terests of the residents of the Village of North Palm Beach as well
as other persons in the northeast section of Palm Beach County,
Florida,
' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
NORT}{ PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Village Council of North Palm Reach,
Palm Beach County, Florida, oppose any State prison being constructed
within the boundaries of the northeast section of Palm Beach County,
Florida.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately
upon passage.
Section 3. The Village Clerk is directed to forward a
copy of this Resolution to the Legislative Delegation from Palm Beach
' County, Florida to the 1971 Florida Legislature, to Governor Reubin
Askew, and to the head of the Florida State Prison System.
