A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, URGING THE ADOPTION OF JOINT RESOLUTION 844, INTRODUCED BY
CONGRESSMAN PAUL G. ROGERS IN THE U. S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON
AUGUST 4, 1971, WHICH BILL PROPOSES AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF
THE UNITED STATES THAT "NO CHILD SHALL BE DEPRIVED OF EDUCATION OR OTHER-
WISE BE FORCED TO ATTEND A SCHOOL NOT CHOSEN BY SUCH CHILD WHEN SUCH
C}{ILD IS NOT IN THE SCHOOL NEAREST THE AREA OF RESIDENCE OF SUCH CHILD";
AND THAT ALL CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS OF THE UNITED STATES AND MEMBERS
OF T}{E LEGISLATURES OF THE VARIOUS STATES SUPPORT SAID AMENDMENT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Village Council of North Palm Beach,
I'lorida, hereby endorses and urges the adoption of Joint Resolution 844
' introduced by Congressman Paul G. Rogers in the U. S. House of Representa-
tives on August 4, 1971, which Resolution proposes an amendment to the
Constitution of the United States as follows:
"No child shall be deprived of education or
otherwise be forced to attend a school not
chosen by such child when such child is not
in the school nearest the area of residence of
such child."
A copy of said Joint Resolution 844 is attached hereto.
Section 2. That all members of the Congress of the United
States be and they are hereby urged to support and vote in favor of said
Joint Resolution. Further, that members of the Legislatures of the various
states be and they are hereby urged to support and vote in favor of said
proposed constitutional amendment when same is presented to their respective
legislatures.
Section 3. The Village Clerk shall deliver a certified copy
of this Resolution forthwith to all persons and governmental bodies
as determined by the members of the Village Council.
