A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A POLICY REGARDING THE USE OF ALARM SYSTEMS
CONNECTED TO THE TELEPHONE NUMBERS OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH
YURLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT.
W}{EREAS, alarm systems have been installed in the Village of
North Palm Beach which connect private buildings with the telephone of the
Riblic Safety Department of the Village of North Palm Beach; and
W}{EREAS, the Public Safety Department may experience an
excessive number of false alarms which may result in public safety
officers being unavailable for true emergency situations; and
W}{EREAS, some alarm systems may tie up the telephone of the
Public Safety Department until the alarm is shut off at the source,
which may tie up the emergency communication system of the Village
unnecessarily and prevent true emergency calls from being handled;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
NORT1[ PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Any person who has an alarm system connected to
the North Palm Beach Public Safety Department will be denied the privi-
loge of having his equipment located in or connected to Village facilities
if it does not operate properly. The Director o£ Public Safety shall
review all existing and future systems and shall not permit any system
to be connected wh:ich will bring about an excessive number of false
alarms.
Section 2. No person may connect an alarm system to tele-
p}ione equipment of the Village of North Palm Beach which cannot be
disconnected at the Public Safety Department of the Village of North
Palm Reach without the necessity of going to the location of the alarm
system.
' Section 3. The Village Clerk is directed to furnish a copy
of this Resolution to the Director of Public Safety, and to any person
who the Director of Public Safety directs her to provide such a resolu-
tion.
