1970-477 Requesting that No Additional Bridges be ErectedRESOLUTION N0, 477-70 A KESOLUTION OF T'HE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BF.AC}{~ 1'LORIDA, RF,QUESTING THAT NO ADDITIONAL BRIDGES BE ERECTED TO CONNECT 7'}IF. MAINLAND OF THF, VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH WITH THAT PORTION OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEAC}i WHICH LIES EAST OF LAKE WORTH AND BOR- ll};RS T}IF. ATLANTIC OCEAN, BE 7T RF,SOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM }3I;ACI{, FLORIllA: Section 1. The Village Council of North Palm Beach, Florida, hereby declares its desire and request that no additional bridges be built connecting that area of the Village of North Palm Beach lying on the western bank of the shores of Lake Worth to that area of the Village lying on the eastern bank of the shores of Lake Worth, and i'or its reasons states as follows: 1. Northlake Boulevard, one of the two reasonable places w}rere bridges could be connected, has at its eastern terminus a series oi' cooperative apartment houses presently built which would stand i.n the way of any road. 2. T}te other possibility is at the end of Lighthouse Drive where it passes through a completely single-family residential district. Along its entire length Lighthouse Drive was designed only i'or inter-village traffic and not for through traffic traveling between municipalities or between distant areas. 3. The oceanfront land is presently served by bridges on each end of Singer Island, together with a two-lane road. The amount of traffic which a two-lane road could handle does not require any new bridges to the oceanfront, and the majority of the zoning on the oceanfront area of North Palm Beach is single-family residential, ' which also would not require additional bridges connecting to the mainland. Section 2, The Village Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to all parties concerned with transportation and traffic control in the State of Florida, to the County of Palm Beach Area Planning Board, the Department of Transportation, etc. ' PASSEll AND ADOPTED THIS 12TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1970.
