2018-05 Village Newsletter “The Best Place to Live Under the Sun” i|ÄÄtzx Éy aÉÜà{ ctÄÅ Uxtv{ MAY 2018 Celebrating the Country Club’s New Beginning A Message from the Village Manager - Andy Lukasik Village sets ambitious schedule for Country Club renovations Hi Villagers! With the farewell party for the old Village Country Club building now history, project managers have begun an ambitious schedule to build a new 37,000 sq. ft. clubhouse and re-sod the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. The clubhouse closed May 1 and will re-open when the new building is complete in late summer of 2019. The golfing greens also are closed, but they will re-open in late November after new grass has successfully taken root. Various vendors will then provide food service from mobile facilities until the new clubhouse opens. Demolition of the old clubhouse is scheduled to begin in June. In the meantime, crews are preparing the building for demolition, and the Village police and fire departments will briefly use the vacant facility for training. Built in 1963, the clubhouse has long been a central gathering place and source of pride for North Palm Beach residents. Escalating costs of maintenance and repairs led the Village Council to fund construction of a new clubhouse, which will cost about $18 million. The new clubhouse will include a community room/banquet facility, restaurant, pro shop, locker rooms and storage for Village golf carts. Throughout most of the project, the driving range, pool and tennis courts will remain open and will be managed from temporary structures until the new clubhouse is ready. However, there will be brief closures for upgrades to the pool deck, parking lot and driving range greens. The timeframes for those closures will be determined in late May and early June. The award of the final contract for clubhouse construction is scheduled for the May 24 Council meeting. Updates and new information about the project will be published regularly in the Village Newsletter and on the Village website at www.village-npb.org. Also, updates will be published often on Facebook (villageofnorthpalmbeach) and Twitter (@VillageNPB), so following the Village on those platforms is a great way to stay informed.
