Lighthouse Drive Bridge Repairs
The Lighthouse Drive bridge has been in use for 60 years and is nearing the end of its useful life. A recent bridge
inspection report gave the bridge only a 26.2 sufficiency rating and recommends the Village seriously consider a plan
for replacing the bridge in 5 to 8 years. Staff thinks this life span can be extended to a degree if the Village undertakes
the recommended repairs outlined in previous bridge inspection reports. The Lighthouse Drive bridge is inspected
annually by an independent FDOT bridge inspector. The bridge inspection report recommends remedial repairs be
performed on key bridge elements to stabilize the bridge structure until such time the bridge can be replaced or
abandoned. The Village will be investing $150,000 in these remedial repairs and expects to commence work in March.
The project should be completed within 60 days of commencement. If you have questions or concerns please contact
the Director of Public Works, Steven Hallock, at 561.691.3440 or shallock@village-npb.org
Anchorage Park Seawall
The Anchorage Park bulkhead wall is in very poor condition and needs repair and replacement. The project will
commence in March and consists of constructing, repairing and removing the bulkhead wall areas. The existing north
side steel sheet pile bulkhead wall (north of boat ramp) is to be abandoned in-place and the steel cap and upper
section of the wall removed. Approx. 260 lineal feet of new concrete bulkhead wall is to be constructed 18” maximum
water-ward from the existing wall. In addition, wall returns are to be constructed along the north side of the boat
ramp and at the north end of the wall. The nine (9) existing finger piers and two (2) floating docks and gangways north
of the boat ramp shall be completely removed, including wood pilings and decking, and properly disposed of offsite.
The grass peninsula area immediately south of the boat ramp is to be removed. The grass area is bounded on 3 sides
by existing bulkheads. The south and west bulkheads will be completely removed. The north bulkhead along the south
edge of the boat ramp will be partially removed. All sections of the walls removed shall be properly disposed of offsite
(including walls, pilings, caps, etc.). The grass area will be excavated and approx. 65 lineal feet of new concrete
bulkhead wall will be constructed in-line to form a continuous bulkhead with the existing south bulkhead, thereby
extending the bulkhead up to the south side of the boat ramp. In addition, a new wall return will be constructed along
the south edge of the boat ramp.
The project is being funded entirely through grant monies with Village matches. The boat ramp shall remain open for
use for as much time as possible during construction. The asphalt parking lot immediately to the south will be closed
to the public and will be used for a staging area. Any damage to the parking lot shall be repaired as part of this project.
The project should be completed within 60 to 90 days of commencement. If you have questions or concerns please
contact the Director of Public Works, Steven Hallock, at 561.691.3440 or shallock@village-npb.org.
