A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, RF,QUESTING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY COI~Y~}ISSION AND THE MARTIN
COUNTY COMMISSION TO REFRAIN FROM ZONING LAND IN THE AREA OF PRATT
& WHITNEY RESEARC}} AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN ANY WAY THAT WILL
ADVERSELY AFFECT THE RESIDENTS AND CITIZENS OF THE VILLAGE OF NORT}{
PALM BEACH.
WHEREAS, a substantial number of the residents and
taxpayers of the Village of North Palm Beach are directly employed
by Pratt & Whitney Research and Development Center on the Beeline
}[ighway, Palm Beach County, Florida, and
W}{F.REAS, the economy and the well-being of the residents
and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach are directly linked
with the operation of the Pratt & Whitney Plant and other industrial
and commercial complexes in northern Palm Beach County, and
WHEREAS, any zoning or other action by either the Palm
Beach County and/or the Martin County Commissions which would
adversely affect the continued operation and growth of Pratt &
Whitney Aircraft Plant, would operate to cause dire economic
and social consequences to the Village of North Palm Beach, its
residents and taxpayers,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council of North Palm Beach,
I'lorida, on behalf of the residents and citizens of North Palm Beach,
urgently.requests the County Commissions of Palm Beach and Martin
County not to rezone or permit any land to be used for residential
or other purposes which will in any way so adversely affect the
ability of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and/or any other industry to
operate in Palm Beach County, so that a reduction or cessation of
employment will result.
Section 2. These Commissions are further requested to
strongly consider the needs of northern Palm Beach County to have
substantial industrial facilities in the area which will employ
a large number of the citizens and residents of the area, and to
take no action without giving great consideration to the value
and necessity of having these installations available in this area.
Section 3. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to for-
