A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF
NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE FILING OF AN
APPLICATION FOR TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM
FUNDS WITH THE PALM BEACH COUNTY METROPOLITAN PLANNING
ORGANIZATION FOR THE ANCHORAGE DRIVE BICYCLE LANE
PROJECT; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Village Administration submitted an application with the Palm Beach County
Metropolitan Organization ("MPO") for $1,000,000 in federal Transportation Alternatives
Program ("TAP") funds for the Anchorage Drive Bicycle Lane Project ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Project includes the construction of new four -foot wide bicycle lanes along the
1.5 -mile portion of Anchorage Drive west of U.S. Highway One that would connect to existing
Village and Palm Beach County bicycle systems; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council determines that the filing of the TAP application is in the best
interests of the residents and citizens of the Village of North Palm Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are ratified and incorporated herein.
Section 2. The Village Council hereby approves the Anchorage Drive Bicycle Lane Project
and supports the filing of an application with the Palm Beach County MPO for federal
Transportation Alternatives Program funds. The Project would increase the safety of bicyclists
on designated bicycle lanes; provide for increased access to parks, schools, libraries and
shopping; and further the objectives of the Village's Master Plan calling for Village -wide bicycle
plan and recreational trail connections.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption.
