March 2002 Newsletter Article ATTENTION ALL VOTERS MARCH 12, 2002 ELECTION CANCELLED: The Village of North Palm Beach will not have an election on March 12, 2002 because incumbent candidates are unopposed. The incumbents who have retained their seats on the Village Council for another two-year term are: Edward M. Eissey – Group 1 Don Noel – Group 3 Joseph A. Tringali – Group 5 Applications for the new precinct laptop position will be kept on file until the March 2003 election. COUNCIL ACTION TAKEN Ordinance 01-2002 Amends CC Budget to appropriate funds for CC Director position. Resolution 01-2002 Notice of General Election to be held March 12, 2002. Resolution 02-2002 Supporting implementation of aquifer storage and recovery technologies for the purpose of protecting the environment and public water supplies. Resolution 03-2002 Accepts bid of Williams Scotsman, Inc. for 3 temporary office trailers. Resolution 04-2002 Appoints 7 residents to the Charter Review Committee. Resolution 05-2002 Requests the adoption of an apportionment plan in which Palm Beach County residents comprise a majority of the constituency in the senatorial and representative districts created to represent Palm Beach County. VILLAGE CLERK NEWS AARP TAX HELP: Due to the imminent interior renovation of the Village Hall, the AARP Tax Help volunteers have moved. AARP Tax Advisors will be available at Faith Lutheran Adult Day Care Center, 2nd Floor, 555 U.S. Hwy 1, North Palm Beach, on Monday, Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE: The Village Council has appointed a Charter Review Committee, which is seeking input and comments from residents. Anyone who has any comments, concerns or suggestions that they would like the Committee to consider is asked to send their comments to the Charter Review Committee, c/o the Village Clerk, 501 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408, by 12 noon on February 28, 2002. Meetings of the Committee are open to the public, and meeting notices will be posted on the Bulletin Board of the Village Hall. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO SERVE ON VILLAGE BOARDS: The Village Boards, whose members serve at the pleasure of the Council, were created to advise the Council concerning present and future activities of the Village. All meetings are open to the public. Annual appointments will be made at the April 25th Regular Session. Appointees will serve for a period of 1 - 3 years, depending upon the Board. Applications are available at the Village Clerk's office, or call 841-3355 for more information. Deadline for applications is Friday, 4/12/02. All applicants will be contacted for an interview with the Village Council.
