09-14-1988 VC SP-MMINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 1988 Present: Craig Mundt, Mayor Judy M. Pierman, Vice Mayor Tan Valente, President Pro Tem V. A. Marks, M.D., Councilman Raymond J. Howland, Village Manager Herbert L. Gildan, Village Attorney Iblores R. Walker, Village Clerk Also Present: J. Chris Commins, Mark McCumber & Associates Absent: Jerry Gardner, Councilman Mayor Mundt called the Special Meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. All ROLL CALL members of the Council were present except Councilman Gardner who is out of state. All members of the staff were present. The purpose of the Special .Meeting is to discuss the plans for PIIRI~~SE FOR the back nine holes of the Country Club Golf Course. SPECIAL MEETING At the Regular Session of ,..the Village Council held September 8, 1988 the Council, by majority vote, cued to proceed with the renovation of the golf course as planned except that the layout of the driving range and the back nine holes will remain ' essentially unchanged. Architect Chris Co:anins told the Council that the plans for the ARCHITECT'S back nine holes of the golf course could be revised to include COMMENTS repairs to greens and tees only and improvements in the sprinkler system, but there would be only about a ten percent savings. He also estimated it would cost $27,500.00 for the revision of the plans. There were several members of the public present at the meeting. COMMENTS Sane spoke for and some spoke against leaving the back nine holes FROM essentially unchanged. There was also discussion concerning the PUBLIC hazard of golf balls being hit onto U. S. 1 if-the driving range is not moved, as the original plans called for. After much discussion by the Council and the public, Councilman COUNCILMAN Marks synthesized as follows: The routing of the back nine MARKS' holes be kept the same except to change No. 14. That the driving SYNTF~SIS range be examined to increase length and size and a different angle. T7iat areas of drainage problem be looked at as identified by the NGF and USGA studies. That the back nine design capture the same design elements as the front nine. That the golf course be updated and put in A-1 shape, including the fainaays, front nine and back nine and a good irrigation system be ccxnpleted if necessary.
