A Message from the Village Manager Jim Kelly

Dear Residents:
It is May already, where has the time gone? Last year I wrote about my mom. She is
90 and her “can do” attitude continues to be a wonderful example for all of us. This
year I want to honor the mother and grandmother of my children (3) and
grandchildren (8), my beautiful wife Vicki.
Vicki and I met at Duquesne University, This year we celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
I cannot imagine a more loving and giving person than Vicki, and as I see my children
and their families grow I see her loving and giving nature in them.
I dedicate the following to all moms, because I want you to know that, while it may not
seem like it at the time, you are truly appreciated and loved for everything that you do!
When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking
By Mary Rita Schilke Korzan
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately
wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to
animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things
can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned
that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to
take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and produc-
tive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, "Thanks for all the things I saw when
you thought I wasn't looking."
Sincerely, Happy Mother’s Day

Original Badges Worn By Police Officers of the
Village of North Palm Beach In 1957
CIT AWARD RECIPIENT IS NPB OFFICER MILLER
The 2015 CIT Award recipient was our
own North Palm Beach Police Officer
Steven Miller.
On December 28, 2015, Officer
Steven Miller responded to a call in-
volving a mentally disturbed male
who was suicidal. The male jumped
off Earman River bridge and into the
Intracoastal waterway. The male was
screaming at officers to shoot and kill
him. Officer Miller boarded the Marine
Unit and talked to the subject while
both North Palm Beach and Palm
Beach County Sheriff's Office marine
patrols guided the male to shallow
water. Officer Miller jumped off of the
boat and into the water, apprehending
the subject without injury.

says his dad drove up and down the streets and selected this lot because it was very deep.
