Village Manager
Dear Residents,
We are making a few changes at our Clubhouse Restaurant. Chuck
Huff is the Acting Director of the restaurant, and he is busy organizing
more summertime events for the restaurant and pool areas.
Additionally, Italian Night is back on Wednesdays starting at 6pm. You
will find that the pricing of our entrees has been reduced without
sacrificing quality or quantity. Pizza is back at the snack bar!!
The Village Council increased the budget for fireworks this year, so we
expect an even greater fireworks display on the 4th of July than last
year! We will have live music provided by “Memory Lane” from 7 pm
to 10 pm, and lots of food and drink for you to enjoy. Fireworks begin
at 9PM, so bring your family, and join us for our 4th of July Celebra-
tion!
Sincerely
Jim Kelly

BEWARE OF DISTRACTION THEFTS NPB K-9 Officer Kaminski and his
Police Dog Cody are coming to
visit at the Library on Wednesday,
July 8 at 2:00 PM—Come join us!
The North Palm Beach Police Department
would like to inform all residents that
distraction thefts are occurring in the local
area. These crimes are being committed by
male and females in groups of two or more in
which the thieves pose as landscapers,
plumbers, pest control and even city workers
to gain the trust of the targeted victim. Their
mode of operation is typically to take the vic-
tim to their backyard while the second and/or
third person enters into the residence. Once
inside they search for jewelry, cash, silver cut-
lery, and other valuables. These groups typi-
cally target elderly residents. The key to
prevention is to understand the method of
operation and not to allow yourself to become
distracted by thieves that attempt to lead you
to your backyard. If you find yourself in
contact with individuals that match this
description, do not let your guard down and
immediately dial 911 to contact the police
department.
North Palm Beach Police Department urges all
residents to confirm the identity of any and all
workers before allowing them onto your prop-
erty or into your residence.
Modern technology has
brought us many useful and
entertaining devices. Most of
these devices rely on electrici-
ty to operate. The typical
homeowner buys their new
product, brings it home and
plugs it in without much
thought to the possible
consequences.
As we acquire more electronic
devices, we run out of
electrical outlets, so we buy
plug expanders or power
strips. Every time you add a
device you run the risk of over
loading the circuit and causing
a fire. One 15 amp circuit at
the electrical panel may
operate three or four outlets.
To keep our devices operating
and charged, we add power
strips and now have five
devices plugged into one out-
let; with one or two items
plugged into each of the other
same-circuit outlets you have
overloaded the circuit and, in
time, can create enough heat
to start a fire.
What can the homeowner do
to avoid these problems? Start
at the electrical panel. Some
older homes, built well before
the information age, may only
have a 60 – 100 amp panel. If
this is the case you may need
to upgrade the panel. This will
require a licensed electrician
and a permit from the Building
Department. If you live in a
newer home, or you’ve had
your electrical panel upgraded
you may need to add addition-
al circuits to spread out the
power draw and reduce the
chance of an overload. Again,
this will require a licensed
electrician and permit. In any
case, it’s a small price to pay
to keep you and your family
safe at home.
