Mayor Lewis called the Public Hearing to order at
8:05 p.m: and asked. the Clerk to call the roll,.a11
members being present except Councilman Everard.
Clerk read legal notice of Public Hearing, which was
published in the Palm Beach Post on August 24, 1969
and posted as required by Village Charter.
Mayor Lewis stated that the purpose-of the Public
Hearing was to answer any questions in the interest
of advising the residents of the purpose of placing
the Charter amendment on the ballot for the September
16, 1969 Special Election '- for a "Yes" or "No" vote -
to determine whether or not the Village of North Palm
Beach should be granted the powers of eminent domain
concerning North Palm Beach Utilities, Inc.
Clerk read House Bill No. 2698, and the Mayor and
Council explained the purpose of this Bi1L
There was one question posed on_this Bi11, which
was answered by Mayor Lewis.
Mayor Lewis then stated that Council would answer
any questions on the three items for straw vote
appearing on the ballot for the September 16 Special
Election. The Mayor stated that Council was asking --
for an opinion vote only from the residents on these
three particular items, and he emphasized that in nd
way would the_Council be bound to make a decision as
the votes may be cast.

The first straw vote item to be discussed was the fill- -`.FILLING OF
ing of the drainage ditch in Plat 4. There were several DITCH IN PLAT
questions raised by the residents on this particular 4
item, which were answered by the Mayor and Council.
The next item for discussion was the filling of sub-
merged lands in Lake Worth. Two questions were raised
by residents on this item, and both questions were
answered by Mayor Lewis.
The next item for discussion was the. sale of the 4.15
acres of Village-owned land adjacent to the Country
Club. Several questions were posed by the residents
on this item, which were answered by the Mayor-and
Council.
There being no further business to come before this
Public Hearing, on motion of Vice-Mayor Be11, seconded
by Councilman Privett, all present voting aye, the_
Public Hearing was adjourned_at 9:05 p.m.
