MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
HELD
TUESDAY, MAY l~E, 1968

Mayor Lewis called the Regular Meeting to order at 8:12 p.m. ROLL CALL
and asked the Village Clerk to call the roll, all members being
present. ,
On motion of Vice-Mayor Bell, seconded by Councilman Watt, all
present voting aye, the minutes of the Regular Meeting held
Tuesday, April 23, 1968 were approved as written.
Mayor Lewis read let-ter from Robert C. Stuke., Treasurer of
Palm Beach Fin Divers, which was addressed to Governor Kirk.
This letter is relative to Village Resolution No. 3~F6-68 on
shark control measures. Mayor Lewis stated that our.Resolu-
tion wa.s adopted by six other Councils to date.
Mayor Lewis read 1@'tter from Governor Claude Kirk dated Ma.y
3, 1968 re a. "Drive for Safety" beginning on May 1, 1968, out-
lining the details of this Drive and-requesting that Council
appoint a chairman for this Drive to work with the Governor's
Highway Safety Commission. Mayor Lewis stated that Council-
man Clark was appointed chairman of the Drive for the
Vi1la.ge.
On motion of Councilman Wa.-Lt, seconded by Councilman Clark,
all present voting aye, the approved minutes of Board of .
Governors meeting held March 27, 1968 were accepted by
Council.
On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Councilman Everard,
all present voting aye, Bill No. 51 entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, AMENDING PORTIONS OF ORDINANCE N0. 164-67,
CONCERNING DETAILED APPROPRIATIONS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
1967-1968
was placed on second reading and read by title only.
On motion of Councilman Everard, seconded by Councilman Watt,
all present voting aye, Bi11 No. 51 was adopted as Ordinance
No. 176-68.
On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman
Everard, 4 'to 1 - Councilman Watt opposed - Bill No. 52
entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 20 AS HERETOFORE AMENDED,
THE SAME BEING THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE OF SAID
VILLAGE, BY REMOVING CERTAIN PROPERTY FROM THE R-2
MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT AND RECLASSIFYING SAID
PROPERTY AS R-3 APARTMENT DWELLING DISTRICT; BY DIRECTING
THE VILLAGE CLERK TO BRING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP UP TO

A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR ThCE ACQUISITION AND
CONSTRUCTION OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS IN THE VILLAGE
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR THE
ISSUANCE OF $325,000.00 IMPROVEMENT REVENUE BONDS OF
SUCH VILLAGE TO PAY THE COST OF SUCH IMPROVEMENTS;
PROVIDING FOR THE RIGHTS OF THE HOLDERS OF SUCH BONDS;

CLERK TO SIGN THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH PALM BEACH
COUNTY REGARDING MEMBERSHIP IN THE PALM BEACH COUNTY
LIBRARY SYSTEM, PROCURING A SUM EQUAL TO 15% OF MONEYS
SPENT ON THE LIBRARY TO BE PAID TO THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH FROM PALM BEACH COUNTY IN RETURN FOR OPENING

There being no further business to come before the
Council, on motion of Councilman f4att, seconded by
Councilman Clark, all present voting aye, the meeting
was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
