01-09-1968 VC REG-M 0 u MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD TUESDAY, JANUARY 9, 1968 Present: Thomas F. Lewis, Mayor Thomas R. Be11, Vice-Mayor David C. Clark, Councilman Allan V. Everard, Councilman Herbert A. Watt, Councilman Herbert L. Gildan, Village Attorney Lawrence J. Robbins, Village_Manager - Dolores R. Walker, Village Clerk Mayor Lewis called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. and asked the Village Clerk to call the roll, all members being present. Mrs. Russell Michaels, President of the North Palm Beach Garden Club, presented award for first place, Best Living Tree, in Village Christmas Decoration Contest to Mr. Robert Allen, 508 Lighthouse Drive. Mr. Chaxles Barnes, 443 Lighthouse Drive, was unable to attend Council meeting to receive his award for second place, Best Living Tree. Mrs. Michaels read letter she had received from Mr. Barnes, indicating that he wanted to donate his award, through the North Palm Beach Garden Club, to the North Palm Beach Library. Mayor Lewis presented award for first place, Best Overall Decoration, to Mr. Harold J. Barker, 855 Lakeside Drive. Second place winner for Best Overall Decoration, Mr. Albert V. Lehman, who was un- able to be present at this meeting, will have his award mailed to his home. Mayor Lewis presented award for first place, Best Religious Theme, to Mrs. James W. Jordan, 625_Atlantic Road; and presented award for second place, Best Religious Theme, to Mrs. Norman Robson, 736 Waterway Drive. Mayor Lewis presented award for second place, Best Doorway, to Mr. Robert H. Sutka, 136 Anchorage Drive. First place award winner for Best Doorway, Mr. Theodore Schesney, 757 Westwind Drive, wa.s unable to attend this meeting and his award will be mailed to his home. Mr. Dave Runkel, President of the Pdorthern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce, presented the Council with an honorary membership in this organization. On motion of Vice-Mayor Bell, seconded by Councilman Watt, all present voting aye, the minutes of Regular Meeting held Tuesday, December 12, 1967 were approved a.s written. On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Vice-Mayor Bell, all present voting aye, the minutes of the Public Hearing held Monday, December 18, 1967 were approved as written. On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Councilman Clark, all present voting aye, the minutes of Special Session held Tuesday, December 19, 1967 were approved as corrected. On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Wa t, all present voting aye, the minutes of Special Session held Thursday, November 30, 1967 were approved a.s rea.d. On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Vice-Mayor Bell, all present voting aye, the minutes of Planning and Zoning Advisory Board meeting held December 6, 1967 were accepted by Council. Meister, representing the Junior Woman's Club o£ the RESOLUTION FROM North Palm Beaches, was present at the meeting to read and present JR, WOMAN'S _ to Council their Resolution on water and air pollution. CLUB OF THE NORTH _ PALM BEACHES RE Mayor Lewis informed Mrs. Meister that at the present time our WATER & AIR _ attorney is investigating a. Vil]s ge ordinance on water and air POLLUTION pollution for consideration. Village Manager read letter from Clarence E. Davidson, District 1/5/68 LETTER _ Engineer, Florida State Road Department, dated January 5, 1968 FROM STATE RD, _ re urbanization o£ U. S. 1 from North Lake Boulevard to the Infra- DEPT, RE URBANI- coastal Waterway. Mr. Davidson indicated that the survey has been ZATION OF U. S. 1 completed and work on preparation of the construction plans will probably start in the near future.
