Mayor Lewis called the Regular Meeting to order at 8:10 p.m. ROLL CALL
and asked the Village Clerk to call the roll, all members
being present except Vice-Mayor Be11.
On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Councilman
Everard, all present voting aye, the minutes of Regular
Meeting held Tuesday, Suly 23, 1968 were approved as
written.
Minutes of Tax Equalizing Board Meeting held Monday, August
5, 1968 were tabled until the final meeting of the Board
which will be Tuesday, August 27, 1968. The Board's meeting
of August 5 was recessed and will reconvene on August 27.

Village Clerk read letter addressed to the Village Council 8/20/68 LETTER
dated August 20, 1968 and signed by the Mayor and Village RE ANNEXATION
Clerk requesting the Village of North Palm Beach to annex OF PROPERTY
certain real property and to make such property a part of
the Vi1la.ge of North Palm Beach, Florida.
There was a contingent present at this meeting from _ CONTINGENT FROM
Village Garden Apartments_ The purpose of their attendance VILLAGE GARDEN
wa.s to question the Council on their decision to deny the APARTMENTS RE
request of Village Garden Apartments to dispense with the POOL ENCLOSURE
pool enclosure.
Mayor Lewis informed this group that the Council denied
their request primarily because of the potential school
traffic of North Palm Beach Elementary School, and stated
that Village Garden Apartments is the only condominium in
North Palm Beach on the west side of U. S. 1. After
further discussion, Mayor Lewis advised the group that
Council would further consider their original request and
advise them accordingly. However, the Mayor pointed out
that this did not necessarily indicate that their original
request would be granted.

Village Manager informed Council that the Lighthouse Bridge REPORT ON
walkway is totally complete and was opened two weeks a,go. LIGHTHOUSE BRIDGE
WALKWAY
Village Manager reported that the second handball court REPORT ON
at Osborne Park is currently about 50% complete, and that HANDBALL CT.
rehabilitation of the entire marina,-area will. be started as & MARINA
soon a,s the handball court is completed.

Village Manager gave status report on urbanization of REPORT ON URBAN-

U. S. 1
Village Manager reported that bids on 4.15 acres of Village BIDS ON 4.15
owned property were advertised publicly in the Post-Times ACRES
Tuesday, August 13, 1968 and that the Village will open
the bids that are submitted a.t 3:00 p.m. Wednesday,
August 21.
Council discussed letter from Alden F. Smith, Chairman,
North Palm Beach Country Club Board of Governors, dated
July 24, 1968, relative to membership rates for the Club
Council will ask the Club for another proposal on their
rates in lieu of the $10.00 per month minimum they had
proposed.

On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Watt,
all present voting aye, that Public Safety Officer Keith
Poole be appointed to replace Public Safety Officer Frank
Saroka, on the Board of Trustees of the Police Pension Fund.
There being no further business to come before the Council,
on motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Councilman
Everard, all present voting aye, the meeting was adjourned
at 10:10 p.m.
