Mayor Lewis called the Public Hearing to order at 7:40 p.m. and ROLL CALL _
asked the Village Clerk to call the roll, all members being present
except Village Attorney Gildan.
Mayor Lewis stated that the purpose of the Public Hearing was to
determine whether or not Lot 1, Block 3, Plat 1 should be rezoned
from R-1 cla.ssifica.tion to C-lA classification.
Vi1la.ge Clerk Ea.ssa. read minutes of Planning a.nd Zoning Advisory
Board meeting held March 1, 1967 relative to the request for this
rezoning.
Village Clerk Ea.ssa, read let-ter dated December 29,.1966 directed
to Vi1la.ge Council from Eugene F. Bie, attorney for Kenneth Ma.y,
Trustee, relative to this rezoning.
Vi1la.ge Clerk Ea.ssa. read advertisement for rezoning which wa.s
published in the Post-Times April 13, 1967.
Village Clerk Eassa. read letter directed to Vi1la.ge Council and
Village Clerk from Drville Rodberg dated Ma.y 2, 1967 opposing the
rezoning o£ Lot 1, Block 3, Plat 1. The "second pa.ragra.ph of the
above-mentioned letter is in error according to Mayor Lewis. It
was not the Village Council who previously denied petition for this
rezoning - it was the Zoning Board of Adjustment who denied this
petition a.t their meeting of October 12, 1966 on the basis that no
hardship ha.d been proven.
Mr. Walter Gorman, 407 Anchorage Lane, was opposed to this rezoning.
He stated that the adjacent residents do not want this parking area. -
it is too close to their homes - and also stated that Anchorage Lane
cannot handle the extra. traffic from this parking a.rea.. Mr. Gorman
a.1so complained about the ditch across the road a.t Anchora.ge Lane.
Mr. Kenneth Ma.y stated that this was North Palm Beach Utilities
responsibility and not his.
Mr. Nicholas Taktikos, 403 Anchorage Lane, wa.s also opposed to
this rezoning.
On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Watt, a.11 present
voting a.ye, Bill No. 19 entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE GF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 20, AS HERETOFORE AMENDED, THE SAME
BEING THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONIIQG ORDINANNCE OF SAID VILLAGE,
BY REZONING LOT 1, BLOCK 3, PLAT 1 OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH
PALM BEACH FROM ZONING DISTR]:CT R-1 TO ZONING DISTRI_CT_C-lA
will be placed on second reading ei.t the Regular Meeting of the
Village Council to be held Tuesday, Ma.y 9, 1967.
On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Watt, a.11
present voting aye, the Public Hearing wa.s adjourned a.t 8:10 p.m.
