Interlibrary Loan Policies
North Palm Beach Library Interlibrary Loan Policies
The North Palm Beach Public Library recognizes the importance of interlibrary loan to
provide materials of a specialized interest to supplement our collection. Because of the
cost of ILL to the Library, consideration will be given to those items appropriate to the
request.
The patron must have a North Palm Beach Library Card in good standing (fines
not to exceed $4.00).
What can be borrowed
Books, audio materials such as audio books and books on CD, videos

(VHS or DVD), microforms, articles and photocopies from materials may
be requested.
A patron may have no more than three (3) items on request at any given
o
time.
Materials that will not be requested include items owned by the Library
o
and temporarily in use or on reserve in the library, and reference materials.
Genealogy and archival materials are difficult to obtain.
The library will generally not seek loans of materials that have been
o
published within the last twelve (12) months.
Procedure
NPB ILL Request Form can be filled out online or in person.
o
There will be no charge unless the lending library charges a fee.
o
Time to receive materials is 2-4 wks. There is no guaranteed delivery
o
date. The Library cannot trace a request.
Patrons will be notified by telephone, email or mail when their materials
o
arrive at the library.
The loan period for ILL materials is 4 weeks.
o
Materials cannot be renewed.
o
The fine for overdue ILL books will be $1.00 per day. All overdue
o
charges are the responsibility of the patron.
Lost, damaged or stolen Interlibrary Loan materials are subject to the
o
lending library’s rules and regulations and are the responsibility of the
patron.
The Library reserves the right to refrain from any activity related to ILL that may
constitute a violation of the provisions of the U.S. Copyright Law, the “CONTU”
Guidelines, or any laws regarding the confidentiality of records.
