REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
SUBJECT: VOLUNTARY ANNEXATION Date: SEPTEMBER 27, 2001
Workshop
Orientation of Issue: The owners of two contiguous lots located on Monet Road have submitted
application to voluntarily annex into the Village. The area of each lot is approximately 1.3 acres
and the properties are presently zoned and used as single family lots in the County.
The properties are under contract with Atrium Development Group which would like to redevelop
the properties into a 16 unit townhouse development similar in character to properties to the east
and north. Development issues including proposed zoning, land use, comp. plan amendments,
site plan approval, etc. are still under consideration.
Programmatic or Policy Impact: Voluntary annexation procedures are regulated under Florida
Statute 171.044. Voluntary annexations are approved by local ordinance with special advertising
and notification requirements.

Budget Transfer: na
Budget Appropriation: na
The proposed properties will provide additional tax base to be determined by the ultimate
development.
Recommendation: At the September 4h, 2001 meeting, the Planning Commission voted 4 -1 in
favor of recommending approval of the annexation.
