05-2013 NewsletterA Message-from the Village Manager We have been working with the Council, the Recreation Advisory Board, and the Waterways Advisory Board to finalize our conceptual design for Phase 2 of the Anchorage Park renovations. Phase 1 was completed in 2009 and dramatically improved the amenities of the park. Phase 2 is focused on consolidating and improving the boat storage area. The goal of this project is to make the storage area more compatible with the size of modern - day boats and to minimize the impact on available green space. We believe that the latest concept accomplishes these two goals. The new park configuration will consolidate the four existing boat storage areas into one and create a total of 157 usable boat storage spaces. In addition, the concept improves the day use boat trailer parking and the overall aesthetics of these areas. New features will also be added to the park including a kayak launch area, an observation deck and fishing pier, expansion of the walking path to 3 /4th of a mile, and an addition of a restroom facility near the ball field, and expansion of the wet slip area to include day docks. The improvements to the park will likely be in the range of 1.5 to 1.8 million dollars. However, we are in process of obtaining grants that will equal approximately $800,000 and we will have $250,000 available from developer fee funds. Our hope is to begin this project in 2014 and complete in Summer of 2015. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Guide to Services Public Records, New Resident Information The Village makes many public records available on our website, yAre You a New Resident? www.village- npb.org simply click the ._ R link to Online Public Records on the left ._ Welcome! L Keeping Our Sidewalks Safe The village is currently evaluating potential life safety hazards caused by landscaping along public sidewalks. Landscaping can block visibility at intersections and driveway inlets, causing dangerous conditions. Trimming landscaping at sidewalks helps ensure safe travel for pedestrians, strollers, bicycles and other types of public traffic. The maximum height for required landscape buffers at sidewalks in multi - family, public and commercial zoning districts is 3 feet. In single - family zoning districts, the village code requires landscaping be maintained to minimize public hazards. This may be achieved by trimming landscaping within 3 feet of the intersection of driveways and sidewalks to a height no greater than 3 feet. * Vacation Time is Approaching: Don't worry about overdue fines while you are away for the Summer.
