Golf Advisory Board, Library Advisory Board, Planning Commission, Recrea-
tion Advisory Board, Waterways Board, and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Return your application and resume
(optional) to the Clerk’s office at
Village Hall, 501 U.S. Hwy 1, NPB FL
33408, npbclerk@village-npb.org or
881-7469 (fax). Deadline for
applications is Thursday, April 11th.
AARP TAX-AIDE PROGRAM
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will be available to help
you prepare your tax return through April 15, 2013 on
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. in the Village Hall Council Chambers.
Taxpayers should bring 2012 tax forms, W-2’s,
1099’s and other tax information along with their
2011 tax return. Taxpayers are also asked to bring

We hear mixed messages about the recovery of our economy, both nationally
and within our state. But it appears, although painfully slow, the economy is
on the mend. Certainly, the stock market is a barometer of economic health,
as is the resurgence in home building. There are also reduced numbers of
foreclosures and the time it takes to sell your home is steadily declining as
well. In North Palm Beach, we are also seeing another important sign of re-
covery represented by new businesses moving into our community. These
new businesses are filling vacant office property and vacant commercial
space as well. One new commercial facility will be open early this month and
will feature high end international home furnishings. It is located just south of Northlake Boulevard on the east side
of US 1. Yet another commercial outlet coming to our community will be a new retail liquor outlet and restaurant
featuring Russian cuisine. Additionally, a firm relocating its corporate offices is bringing with it approximately 160
employees and will occupy office space at 701 US Highway 1. This firm specializes in the storage of digital
documents for hospitals and large corporations.
Every new business that comes to North Palm Beach improves the economic vitality of the Village. More people
are finding homes and moving in to the community and more employees are buying lunches and groceries,
arranging for cleaning, and accomplishing a myriad of other transactions that create churn within our economy. In
addition, with each business we attract, we stand a much better chance of attracting yet another. That is why our
Council places such a high priority on economic development for North Palm Beach. Economic development must
involve a two-edged strategy; first helping our existing businesses to grow and second, encouraging new ones to
relocate to North Palm Beach. Economic vitality will assure that we sustain North Palm Beach as the “best place
to live under the sun.”

HOW TO START A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM
The following steps explain how to get a Neighborhood Watch program started in your area:
Talk to your neighbors. See if there’s interest in forming a Neighborhood Watch
group on your street or in your development.
Contact the North Palm Beach Police Department at 841-3300 to discuss the de-
tails of the program to bring back to your neighbors.
Relay the information to your neighbors. Tell them about the benefits of being in-
volved in the program and the issues to be addressed. Ask about convenient times
and places for the first meeting. Be sure to mention that Neighborhood Watch does
not require frequent meetings, and that a police officer will attend the session to pro-
vide crime statistics/trend information and answer questions.
Plan the first meeting. Select a date, time, and location for the first meeting. It can
be held at a home, in a cul-de-sac, school, church, or community center. Send out
announcements a few weeks ahead of the meeting. You can distribute fliers, make
phone calls, or send emails. Send out reminders a few days before the meeting.

golf courses. For the first time in history of golf, a genuine world ranking has been
established. It is the result of unbiased and independent opinion with no commercial
pressure. The Editorial Committee gave each course a score, geared primarily to the
excellence of the site, the course architecture involved, and of course maintenance and
condition. After verification, they took the entire 32,000 courses currently registered world-
wide and ended up with those considered to be the Top 1000!
