Hello, residents! Do you have old photographs that show the early
days of North Palm Beach? We are currently looking for photos
to add to our collection. Possible subjects include: the North
Palm Beach Library, the Village Hall, U.S. Highway 1,
Northlake Blvd. (or before Northlake was built), Twin City Mall, local schools and churches,
local businesses, the First American Bank (the first building on Northlake Blvd.), condominium
communities, and more. Bring your old photographs to the Historian’s office at the NPB
Library and share your memories! For more information please contact Rosa at 841-3371.
North Palm Beach History
Welcome 2012, some think the last year according to the Mayan
calendar. Instead we optimistically are taking next steps in
choreography of efforts to preserve and protect while we design and
build our unique future. Tweaking codes, improving process, generating
better communications and all other efforts of enabling sustainability are
ongoing for your village. It’s the “new normal” in local governance to do
more with less, be more innovative and creative and yet always get the
job done in an ethical, transparent and open manner with high levels of satisfaction and service with a smile!
So, how may we best communicate with you? We have a wonderful newsletter, our great village website with
extensive links at your fingertips and a new country club website. A recent revelation occurred when village
sanitation schedules changed by only one day to accommodate holiday schedules, although
announced in the newsletter and on the website compliance was just a bit over 10%. This tells me we don’t
communicate effectively enough, or maybe we shouldn’t “move the cheese” on resident routines. We do have
“Constant Contact” email blasts for Parks & Recreations’ leisure-time activities, door hangers, flyers,
“snail-mail” and other options we can pursue, but no one of these systems reaches everyone, every time for
critical communications.
Would you like village-wide recorded telephone messages to reach your home? Would you like smartly
designed message board-monument signs at the main village properties such as at Village Hall, the
Community Center and the Country Club to display council meetings, announcements, events and
services? There are so many ways we can communicate better. I’d love to engage our residents (and
businesses) in ongoing dialog on these issues and priorities. Perhaps you’d like an interactive survey online to
keep track of village preferences.
We are currently looking at a mid-March “Town Hall” assembly workshop - to ask key questions, garner
valuable citizen input and prioritize projects for the village’s vision and sustainable future. We appreciate all
resident input and participation. A closing note to “anonymous” contributors, thank you, I take every
comment seriously and go about improving things in ways we can always improve the Village. Feel free to
come see me and talk about your priorities any time. It's hard to tell an anonymous commentator what we’re
doing to address your concerns, but we notice and try.
Happy New Year North Palm Beach!

POLICE CHIEF’S MESSAGE FOR 2012
Chief Robert M. O’Neill
H appy New Year 2012! Our staff here at the North Palm Beach Police
Department hopes your holidays were safe, filled with joy and
happiness. To start the New Year off right, we would like to share
some of our resolutions for crime prevention…
• Form a Neighborhood Watch group. Citizens tell us that they want to help prevent crime and there is no better
place to start than close to home. These watch groups work to keep people connected; they are committed to
reporting suspicious activity to the police. Simple things like picking up a neighbor's newspaper when they are
out of town can eliminate a "sign" for thieves that the home is empty. To start your own Neighborhood Watch
group contact Sergeant Angela Dallesandro at 841-3300 or adallesandro@village-npb.org.
• In the car, keep your doors locked and valuables out of sight. Don't visit ATM machines at night/alone. Don't
keep wallets, checkbooks or other valuable materials in the car that can cause your identity to be stolen.
• Make sure you know your neighbors and are familiar with the cars they drive and their children. Have phone
numbers and know how to get in touch with one another. This is helpful when something suspicious happens
in the neighborhood. Keep doors closed and locked when home, never standing open or left unlocked. This is
especially important with garage doors, not to mention gates and entries to the back yard. Proper exterior
lighting and close trimmed shrubs, plus many other tips for "Crime Prevention through Environmental Design"
are taught at Neighborhood Watch meetings.
• Know your children's friends and the parents of their friends. Know their teachers and be active in your
children’s school life. Let the teachers and administrators know about dangerous activities your kids talk
about. Even if it is a "rumor." Make sure you know where your kids are when they are not at home or in school
and know who they are with.
Please join our ongoing effort to prevent crime by following these tips and become involved with your Village
Police Department. Whatever challenges the New Year may present, we continue our pledge to focus on a
pro-active strategy involving you, our citizens working together with us, to keep our village a safe and secure
place to live, work and play.

H appy New Year! Season is here and the weather is perfect! This is the time of year to come
out and play or practice on our fantastic Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Did you know
that North Palm Beach Country Club was just voted the number 1 ranked public golf course in
Palm Beach County on the Palm Beach Post’s website www.PBPulse.com. If you haven’t played the
new course now is the time to come out and give it your best shot!
In addition to having a variety of membership options, the golf facilities are always open to the public. We offer
golf instruction by a number of skilled PGA Professionals as well as weekly hour long women’s and junior golf
clinics. The women’s clinics will be held on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm. Junior golfers are always welcome at
NPB Country Club and the weekly clinics are held on Saturdays at 1:00pm.
In an effort to reach more golfers and increase the enjoyment of the game we have just added another set of
tees. The new “Family Tees” play to 3600 yards for the 18 holes and will be a great option for new golfers, junior
golfers, or those players who would just like to hit shorter clubs into the greens. We invite you to come on out and
give them a try.
We wish you a great start to the New Year and hope to see you soon and often at NPB Country Club. For more
information please visit our website at www.npbcc.org or call the golf shop at (561) 691-3433.
