Did You Know….
In 1968, the planning of the building that
would house the North Palm Beach Library
was well underway. The groundbreaking took
place in October. The building cost
$200,000 to build. To raise money
for books, the Library Society sponsored a
horse show at the Saddle and Gun Club.

CLOSE THE DOOR ON CRIME—SHUT YOUR GARAGE DOOR
Burglars spot open garage doors and remove visible items in a matter of seconds. In many of
these instances, the resident may be at home and/or outside on the property while the burglary is
being committed. Among the items usually taken are: golf clubs, fishing poles, bicycles, and other
valuables left inside vehicles parked in the garage.
If you notice your neighbor’s garage door open, please remind them of the importance in keeping their garage
doors closed! Neighbors looking out for one another are the single most effective crime prevention tool. If you
see suspicious activity in your neighborhood call the North Palm Beach Police Department at 561-848-2525
or to report a crime in progress dial 911.
Directions: I-95 to Blue Heron Blvd. East to
Broadway (rt. US1) turn left (North) on
Broadway to first traffic light, Silver Beach
Rd. and turn right and follow to Station Lake
Worth, a short distance on your left.
SMOKE DETECTORS
Every year, approximately 2,600 Americans die in home fires. Over half of these deaths (52%)
occur between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am, when residents are typically sleeping.
Smoke and toxic gases from a home fire are as deadly as heat and flames. Just two or three
breaths of toxic smoke can render you unconscious. In addition, smoke obscures vision, decreasing your
ability to escape. Smoke alarms save lives, prevent injuries, and minimize property damage by detecting fires
early and alerting residents, allowing crucial time to escape. The risk of dying from a fire in a home
without working smoke alarms is twice as high as in a home with working smoke alarms.
For more information on smoke detectors, or any fire safety question call your Fire Rescue Department at
882-1141.

Summer time is just about here but I would like to first make mention of a few highlights from this past season.
There were some great matches in our club championship which was played throughout January and February.
Lynn Fullmer defeated Ann Howard in the Women’s division and Kirk Harris outlasted his good friend Art Driscoll
in the Men’s Black Tee division. Dr. Dennis Feuer and Don Brown were victorious in their divisions beating Bill
Donovan and Dennis Colangelo respectively.
North Palm Beach Country Club’s women took home the trophy this season in the Palm Beach County Women’s
Team Play. The league was made up of eight area clubs each being represented by eight women in each
match. This is a great accomplishment for our women and the difficulty of our course undoubtedly played a role
in this win.
On March 3rd, we found a couple who likes the 16th hole better than any other. During their round, Christopher
Forgét got down on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend Jennifer Towers. She said YES! The
couple from Islip, Long Island, will always remember the 16th hole for all of the right reasons.
We have a few memberships and camps this summer that look to be even more successful than in years past.
Our summer membership will begin on May 1st and run through September 30th. We will again have two
membership options available. The first is $495 plus tax and each member will only pay a cart fee each time
they play. The second option is only $995 plus tax and cart fees are included with unlimited play except on
Friday, Saturday and Holidays before 2:00pm. During these times you still only pay the member cart fee. There
are only a few summer memberships still available so hurry before they are filled.
We are excited to offer five different sessions for our Junior Summer Camps this year. The camps will focus on
all aspects of the game while also incorporating other sports and activities in an effort to improve the children’s
overall athletic ability. The sessions will each be three days long from 8:30am to 11:00am and will cost $150 per
week. The camps are scheduled for June 7th-9th, 21st-23rd, July 5th-7th, 19th-21st and August 2nd-4th. To sign up or
for more information please call the golf shop at 691-3433.
Thank you for supporting this great Country Club and I look forward to seeing you this summer.
