ROLL CALL
Mayor Vastola called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. All members of Council were
present except President Pro Tem Kelley, who was absent due to illness. Village
Manager Dennis Kelly was present.
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

The purpose of the Special Workshop was to discuss the site plan of the proposed Public
Safety Building on U. S. Highway One.
REVIEW OF SITE PLANS
Tim Hullihan gave an overview of issues that are currently being addressed by the
various site plans presented, which included separation and circulation of private vehicles
from emergency vehicles, as well as separation of police vehicles from fire/rescue
vehicles. Mr. Hullihan stressed the importance of considering traffic circulation with the
adjoining neighborhoods and commercial district. Mr. Hullihan stated that another goal
is to consolidate as much of the site as possible to the north end in order to preserve
property on the south for future sale to reduce the overall long-term cost of the facility.
Mr. Hullihan presented Drawing "E", as well as drawings "A" through "D", which had been
submitted to the Council at its last Regular Session. Drawing "E" provided for the
apparatus bay being turned away from the main street.
STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
Residents of Mariners Key addressed the Village Council regarding the proposed gating
~.., of their community, and requested that representatives from their community be allowed
to involved in the process. Residents of Paradise Harbour also spoke before the Council,

stating their objection to Mariners Key's original plan for gating, but supporting working
together to develop a plan that would be acceptable to both communities.
The Village Council directed that a special meeting with representatives from
Mariners Key, neighboring condominiums, Mock, Roos Engineers, and Village staff be
scheduled as soon as possible to discuss various concerns that have been expressed,
prior to the Council's Regular Session of May 22, 1997. The Council requested that
residential lots on the west end of Ebbtide Drive be indicated on the site plan, and to
keep the service road.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at
9:20 p.m.
