Councilman Marks requested that Council be brought up-to-date on the Mh~TTING WITH
meeting that had been held with the Ficklers; wondered why the W,G.A, FICKLIILS
and certain individuals had been taking golf carts across U.S. 1,
The Village Manager stated that he and Ray Howland has met with
Shirley and Bodo Fickler for a couple of hours. 'They discussed the
contract, sane of the problems the Ficklers have had, and finances--
in very general terms since they didn't have all of their figlffes.
The Ficklers indicated that things were slower than they had
anticipated up through November; haaever, Dec., Jan., and Feb. were
good months for them. It was suggested that the Ficklers develop a
' good evening business during the st¢rtner and get the snack bar
worked out. The Ficklers were asked if they would consider sharit~
all of their financial figures with the Staff since it is everyone s
wish that they do well. It was agreed that another meeting would be
held in March. The Ficklers squashed the rumor that they were
thinking of going back to the Elk's Lodge. Councilman Brawn
queried whether they were going to Sump back anywhere else and it
was the Village Manager's belief that they were not; at least, there
has not been any indication of this from any source.
The situation with the W.G.A., Mr. Nicoletti said, has really been W.G.A. PROBLEM
unfortunate. For sane time, a small group of individuals
(Telephone Pioneer Women) approximately 12 wana~, Mrs. Watt chairs
it, have been meeting on Wednesdays at the Club to play bridge.
Over the last several weeks, conflict has arisen between the W.G.A.
and this small group of wara~. The W.G.A. boycotted the luncheons
and sane of the wt~1, on occasion, have driven the golf carts
across the roadway. They sit in the Club all afternam, expecting
service and leave a fifty cent tip. Ray Howland met with manbexs
of the Pioneer's and Jean Atherton, Pres, of the W.G.A. It was
Mr. Nicoletti's contention that it was ironed out.
Mayor Brawn stated that in George Delacorte's letter, he asked GEORGE DELACORTE
to meet with him and the Village Manager to disa~ss a donation
to the Village. Councilman Moore suggested that on the 10 acres
owned by the Village, a malti-purpose facility be built with
the money. It was the consensus of the Council that a response
should be sent to Mr. Delacarte immediately.
Vice Mayor Kazimir indicated that something should be done about the WINTER CLUB
Winter Club; either renovate it or tear it dmrm, but that a decision
should be made. The Village Manager stated the possibility of an
historical site designation.
