04-12-1960 VC REG-M MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF PERTH PALM BEACH HELD APRIL 12, 1960 , u 0 Present: Walter E. Thomas, Mayor William Young, Vice-Playor Louis J. Aiello, Councilman Frank J. Hahn, Councilman Emery J. Newell, Councilman C. Robert Burns, Village Attorney Albin R. Olson, Village Manager and Clerk Mayor Thomas called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. and requested the Clerk call the roll. Mayor Thomas requested the Clerk read the minutes of a regular meeting of the Village Council held March 8, 1960. The minutes were approved as read. He appointed a planning committee consisting of the Council members arx3 the Village Manager with Councilman Hahn, Chairman, to study the matter. The Village Clerk read a request from the Riviera Beach Youth Athletic Associa- tion for permission to conduct a village-wide fund raising day to assist in uniforming ' and equipping area "Pony League" baseball teams. On motion of Councilman Newell, seconded by Vice Mayor Young, all members voting aye, it was voted the village contribute $25.00 to the Association with a request the money be allocated to provide equipment £or North Palm Beach boys participating in the program. On motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Councilman Newell, all members voting aye, a request from Sun Benches, Inc., for permission to locate advertising benches within the village was denied. The village manager discussed the incongruity of several street names within the village and requested the Council consider changing the names of these streets. Mayor Thomas appointed Councilman Aiello, Cha3sman, Councilman Newell, and Vice-Mayor Young to study the matter an3 make appropriate recommendations to the Council. • Minutes April 12, 1960 Page #2 On motion of Vice-Mayor Young, seconded by Councilman Hahn, all members voting aye, proposed Resolution #79 appointing Councilman Newell Village Tax Collector was adopted. The oath of office was administered the Tax Collector by the Vi7lage,Clerk. The matter of a public healing concerned with amending certain sections of the zoning ordinance was discussed. In view of the fact the owner of the land area involved was unable to be present, the hearing was postponed to the next regular Council meeting. The matter of adopting rules and regulations for the operation of the boat area was discussed, The vi.7lage attorney was instructed to prepare an appropriate resolution for Council consideration. Representatives of the North Pa]m Beach Little League requested the Council consider an appropriation to assist the group in providing a baseball program within the village this surmner. On motion of Vice-Mayor Young, seconded by Councilman Newell, all members voting aye, an appropriation to the Little League organization in the amount of $750.00 • was approved. On motion of Uice-Mayor Young, seconded by Councilman Aie71o, all members voting aye, the list of accounts payable was approved for payment.
