Mayor Ross called the meeting to order and requested the Village Clerk call the roll.
Mayor Ross requested the Village Manager read the minutes of a regular meeting of
• the Village Council held on May 13, 1958. On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by
Councilman Ross, all members voting aye, the minutes were approved as read,
Ma3ror Ross informed the Council he had no report to make at the time.
The Village Clerk read a letter addressed to the Mayor from the Association of
Municipalities of Palm Beach County requesting the village aid in supporting the Association
during its forthcoming fiscal year by payment of dues in the amount of ~11~.00.
On motion of Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Vice-Mayor White, all members voting
aye, payment of the requested dues was authorized.
On motion of Vice-Mayor White, seconded by Councilman Ross, all members voting aye,
the following report of the Village Treasurer was approved:

BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE TO BORROW THE SUM OF
TWEDtTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS 025,000.00} IN ANTICIPATION OF
RECEIPT OF TAKES TO BE LEVIED FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1958
was adopted.
On motion of Councilman Ross, seconded by Councilman Schwencke, all members voting

The Village Manager recommended the Council consider the appointment of a Director -
of Civil Defense to organize, administrate and operate a local organization which would
function in time of emergency. The need was stressed for having an emergency organization
and plan in readiness particularly during the hurricane season.
On motion of Councilman Ross, seconded by Councilman Schwencke, all members voting
' aye, the village attorney was requested to prepare a resolution appointing a Civil Defense
Council in North Palm Beach.
Mrs. Harry Athan, l~00 Ebbtide Drive, cited the need for a village ordinance similar
to the Dog Ordinance regulating cats within the village. The Village Manager was instructed
to investigate the practice in other communities and report to the Council.
Councilman Ross reported the village government was imrestigating the possibilities
of the village obtaining federal fumes to construct recreational facilities previously
proposed by the Village Manager. He mentioned the possibility of including complete
street lighting facilities in the program.
• There being no further business to come before the Council, on motion of Councilman
Schwencke, seconded by Vice-Mayor White, all members voting aye, the meeting was adjourned
at 9:15 p.m. to meet at 8:00 p.m., June 2~, 1958, at the North Palm Beach Country Club.
